My daiwa advantage hsta's have sweet backlash controll the only few times i backlash is when i loosen up everything for flipping and pitching and go for a cast without resetting. I've tried all these reels as suggested hsta is better than them. Only might be a little heavy 8.5oz par will all the reels mentioned at this size for an older guy like your father sometimes my wrist get sore after a good 8hrs of fishing Calais or calcutta dc it's hard the backlash ( i hear )

I think he's talking about taking the side plate off the curado to adjust the brake settings. You don't have to take the reel apart just use the quick side plate opening so easy a kid can do it. Also the curado is lighter than the stx probably more refined as well
