Glad you're having fun with'em SFBA IMO, a larger profile bait with big action at slow fall or minimum movement of the rod tip, is hard for a hungry bass to pass up Kinda like if I went to a Steak Smorgasboard, I would choose a Big Ribeye over the petite fillet most of the time ;D What color were you feedin'em.... A buddy of mine Gene helped me clean my boat Saturday so we decided "To Get it wet on Sunday". Neither of us had fished Lake O.H. Ivie (West Tx) in several years so we thought WHY NOT One of our good friends, Wendell, lives within an hour of there so we called him to see if he wanted to meet us at the ramp with rods in hand to join us in this "Sudden Urgent Need to Wet a Line".... and he started singing the song "I'll be There" We had a blast flippin Rage Lobsters, Space Monkey's, Smokin Roosters, Thumpers and Rage Hawgs and caught alot of healthy fish pretty much all day long. This also gave me an opportunity to ck out the new Falcon Craw color and it appeared to be well received by the fish as we were all three using it by the days end Wendell took the prize on Big Fish flippin a Space Monkey and we also caught'em Tx Rigging Thumpers and C rigging Eeliminators. Enjoyed ourselves to the MAX and can't wait til next time..... After we reeled'em up, I did get to ck out some spots on the lake for this Summer night fishing forrays and "OH BABY...O.H. X2....also might try a 3 stage approach....1) Locate the fish and type of structure etc. with the faster moving Spinner bait and/or swim jig 2) Slow swim a High Action Soft plastic on a 1/4 oz keel weighted (swimbait) hook 3) then flip'em with High Action Softies or Jigs. With this approach, you can locate the depth and structure type where fish are holding, then hone in by slowing down in stages to pick on'em.....One of my favorite styles of fishing Big O www.ragetail.com

Skipping with weighted hooks is OK if the hook weight is extremely close to the body of the bait but the weight hanging too far below can sometimes present a problem for skipping. Kent is right on, with his comment earlier and IMO "Why many strikes occur on the fall" is 1) Splash down possibly mimics another bass feeding on prey and draws attention from a nearby fish which responds by striking bait falling in front of them. 2) We often cast, pitch etc. to obvious fish holding structure so the bait is in an opportunistic strike zone when falling... 3) We as fishermen are often in a hurry to catch as many fish as possible so we pitch, flip and cast to every likely spot we find expecting that if the fish is going to hit, they will hit right there. If we don't get struck immediately, we retrieve too quickly to actually find out if there is a fish between us and the obvious structure. We all hope that we can locate the fish and they are in active feed patterns when we're there but if they're not, we have to search for the right combinations to flip their switch. Often when dragging C rigs, Big Worms or Football jigs over Points, ledges, rock piles etc. we find that it's the small vibrations and sounds that are being made by a bait that causes the fish to investigate. When they find or see the bait, if there is no feeding competition going on, color becomes much more enticing. Big O www.ragetail.com

T rig, C rig, flippin w/Bobber Stop ahead of weight, Swim Jig without skirt or Swim it on weighted hook are the main ways I fish it..... Black is a good color for Soft Plastics and works extremely well in some situations.....but in time, I bet you will find that there are many colors that will out fish Black, in many waters across the country and in many different situations. It is being proven more and more everyday that fish have preferences just like every other living organism on the planet and in the Bass fishing world....Color matters for improving "Cast to Catch" ratios. And as for Trucks...I've driven'em my entire life and retired at 34, long prior to designing the Rage Tail Line for Strike King, so vehicles aren't really in the Rage Tail equation....I do like Black Trucks though along with several other colors ;D Big O www.ragetail.com

Okeechobee Craw is a good color that seems to be effective in many waters as well. The Blue Flake belly has enough flash to get attention even in off color waters. Big O www.ragetail.com

All I use is Baitcaster gear and it throws fine weightless as is....it's slender and doesn't catch much wind. For quick retrieve topwater action, a 1/16 oz weighted hook is OK but not for slow retrieve because the belly weight kills the side to side action of the head. IMO for top....no weight is best Big O www.ragetail.com

A bitsy bug jig will catch any bass that wants to eat a jig.... provided the angler does his part to present it correctly and then handles the rod correctly after the fish eats it For sure it will catch big fish, if it gets past the smaller fish first. This is a well known fact that many fisherman understand but often larger jigs are preferred for faster fall, deeper or winded water use, stronger hook, faster flipping coverage etc. I have caught several fish over 10 lbs on them and you can alter your profile easily with the choice of your trailer. I use three different trailers depending on profile size the fish are eating best. Are they Rage Tails...YEP and not just because I designed them but moreover because even on a tiny jig the claws have excellent action both on the fall and with the slightest movement of the rod tip....regardless of water temps. 1) Small profile Baby Rage Craw 2) Medium profile Rage Chunk 3) Large profile, pinched Rage Craw Of course there are a variety of other trailers that will do fine on small jigs and it's really up to the fisherman to do his homework to see which one works best in all situations. I am a big advocate of small jigs and think you'll be very happy with them but it's nice to have a variety of sizes to roll with.
