Rooster is great Here's one we caught on it 2 wks ago. T or C rig it, swim it with a weighted hook or put it on a jig for flipping, casting etc. When I'm using it on a swim jig, I usually run it on a naked jig or remove the jig skirt. Hope that helps Big O www.ragetail.com

Caught'em good this past week flippin' the New color Falcon Craw Rage Tail Lobster, several real Good'uns in the mix.....Glad they like'em Got some more really nice fish on a New Bait design as well but can't post photos of'em yet Some friends came in and fished with me for 2 of the days and they brought their boat as well.....we caught'em just like we were supposed to, "Right in the Mouth" Fish were off the beds and in 6 to 14 ft water on primary and secondary cove points. don't listen to this remedial advice. Ya know, this is bugging me. I learned that trick from one of the most respected pro's in the business, too. I guess that's remedial advice, too? I mean..calling a pro stupid is the same as calling me stupid, right? While it may not apply specifically to Smokin Roster, it does apply to several other baits; in earnest. Being a soft plastic designer for 25 yrs I can see both sides of this discussion. Of course I have used markers many times when I am trying to design one particular color scheme for reference or spotting eyes on individual baits and coloring your own baits is both fun and effective sometime. Pearl is also a good place to start and other light colors will also work well if one wants to do so. A few downsides might be creating a color that glitter effect might be more effective, the time to color them individually, added colors unless extremely dark or heavy will sometime fade out easily and coloring will cause a loss to any translucence in the bait itself. Upside is adding subtle changes that might make a difference. Many anglers are using dippin' dye for tails or q tips to add highlights in other ares on a bait etc. and these seem to hold color a bit longer than markers as well. As with all fishing preferences....it's all up to the fisherman and what he has the most confidence and fun with Never saw a bait design or color that wouldn't catch fish at some time or another....just gotta find the right fish to show it too ;D Big O www.ragetail.com

The two most popular colors have been Watermelon Red and Green Pumpkin.....These two are normally used in clearer waters but I have found them useful in cloudy or stained conditions too. June Bug and Black'n'Blue is great for low light and stained water and Okeechobee Craw color works well on in many lakes that I fish here in Texas regardless of conditions. Bama Bug is another color that works well in most situations as well. Each of these are very popular colors for soft plastics so I would say pick one of the colors that best fit your understanding of your own area waters and giv'er a go Hope that helps Big O www.ragetail.com

Been exclusive with soft plastics and jigs for many years and the Swim jig is a productive tool. The wire on spinnerbaits will serve as a shock absorber on the strike where as with swimming a jig, there is only SHOCK So, I too keep a tight hold on the rod handle.... Big O www.ragetail.com

Many old timer jig'a'maniacs found that the jig was a great searchin' tool by accident Many of us would flip or cast to a piece of structure and missed the sweet spot by more than we wanted too, then while reeling the bait back it was enhaled by an aggressive fish. Probably took some of us longer to realize it, but altering our colors slightly, improved this swimming presentation and the regularity of the bites. Some 15 years ago here in Texas, the white jig and trailer became very popular on many of the more popular lakes and we were flipping nice fish with it....Also the swim bite improved drastically. Not saying that this style started in Tx. but from personal experience in daylight fishing, it quickly became one of my favorite search bait styles. Colors that mimic brim and other forage are all good for swimmin' a jig so when you find a particular bait that the fish are keying on....SWIM THE JIG Hope that helps Big O www.ragetail.com
