Well I spent this past weekend setting up an emergency shelter, and then today's high temp is 9 degrees with 6 to 10 inches of snow falling tonight. I think I'll stay in for a few days...wish it were decent so i could get out there!

My brother-in-law went down on Saturday evening and has a new pontoon on the way, so the boat show side of things must have been good! How was the fishing gear/shows?

Last summer my brother in law and I made a latenight trip to Walmart, bought a WII and the rapala bass fishing game and had a blast. I wouldnt call it realistic, your bringing in a fish almost every cast! It was pretty fun though, and I'll play wii before any other game console. I hate just sitting with a controller, I have to feel like I'm actually doing something!

From what I hear they are definitely in there. There is no way to access the river safely right now, but I'll be waiting for it to start to settle back down and I'll be out there for sure!

I live in west-central Ohio, directly between two of the best rivers in Ohio for trout and smallies. The trout river level is high but well within the banks, but the Great Miami River is WAYYY over its banks. I was looking forward to fishing this river in the coming weeks, so my question is how does a flood effect the smallmouth bite after waters have receded? ? ? :-/

Definitely up for the smallmouth challenge. I've been waiting to hit the rivers around here...they were half frozen when temps were in the teens and lower, but now they are overflowing after all the rain!

I thank the Army for my topo map reading skills, but it does take some time to figure it out. I'm better at reading maps than I am knowing where fish will be ON them, so I dont want to steer you in the wrong direction, but hopefully I can help you get your feet wet, so to speak. Is it possible the number you are looking at is an elevation ring? This would be showing you the elevation above sea level, and usually would be in increments of 10-20-40 or something like that.

love the new wheels! I'm looking for a tacoma crew cab right now! I love buying american made, but when I lose money on resale value and replacing parts...I'm going to take the better made vehicle from the get-go. My whole family works for Honda of America, but Toyota has my attention!

I'm up in Bellefontaine, right down the road from Indian Lake. So I'm pretty much right by the spillway that begins the Great Miami, and a couple miles from the upper part of the Mad River. I'm sure there is some good fishing to be had in these rivers, I just need to get out and figure out the how/when/where!

Oh definitely count me in on this one. Last weekend I snuck out the side door to the garage to make a few casts without my wife laughing at me.

He definitely had a racist undertone to that remark. I agree that non-violent felons should have a shot given an appropriate amount of time since the felony was committed. Why ask felons to turn their lives around and then deny those who do the opportunity to do something good. Its a thin line to walk, but I think they should have the opportunity.

I had Time warner for two years and I loved everything about that service, including the price!

When I was in the Army we lived in NC (fort Bragg) and had Time Warner digital cable with DVR and TV on Demand, and loved it! Now we are back in Ohio living with Charter "digital" cable that goes in and out all the time, doesnt offer DVR or HD, and cant even get the shows/times correct on the programming guide. When I search for a show, all I find under "outdoors" is basketball highlights, and my fishing shows are sometimes displayed under "all sports" I miss time warner, and hate charter, but its the only non-satelite company we can get! What company do you like/trust the best? and can someone tell me why it is up to the government of a county/city to determine which providers are allowed to serve certain areas?

I've seen the ad for the BPS Classic in the catalog, looked on the website only to find "details coming soon" My question is, what exactly is the classic? is it at every BPS? Good deals? Should I wait to make my next rod/reel purchase till then? Is it worth my two hour drive to cincinnati? Thanks !

I'm in central ohio, Last Friday morning it was 5 deg. when I got to the airport headed for the bahamas (cruise) where it was 75 deg., got back to Ohio Monday night and it was 45 deg., today I woke up to temp of 9 deg. and NEGATIVE SIXTEEN windchill! I think I may book another cruise for the weekend!

They have already declared bankruptcy once, in 2003 I believe and are taking anothe stab at keeping the company afloat, but to be honest I'm just waiting for that going out of business sale. I dont see them doing anything to attract customers/business/income.

Its been a few years since I have fished it, but I recall we focused on the rocks on points we found toward the mouth of a cove. Last I hear they had a big drawdown on Cumberland, so I'm not sure if any of those spots would even be still hitting or if they are now above water level. We didnt fish below 10-12 feet of water, mostly throwing cranks in the Eastern coves. Its been a while!

back in the catalog business? Thats the first I have heard of this, take a look at their website...they may as well just have a one page website that says "we got some huntin and fishing stuff, come to the store and see" The two stores I go to both are in desperate need of some upkeep...I see them going under or selling out long before they send me another catalog

I cant wait to fish Florida. I took the family on a cruise to the bahamas last weekend, so on the way in to Miami we flew over Florida and I was like a little kid staring out the window trying to pick out the lakes I had heard of...what a tease! Now I'm back home in Ohio, where its cold and windy!

I work about two minutes from Indian lake and have fished it a few times. Its a tough lake to fish without a boat. Its a shallow man-made lake, so there arent many areas where bass can find the deep-water escape routes they like. It does hold some decent fish, though.

I may finally be able to get a couple new rods/reels NOT from Wal-mart....dare to dream!
