this biggun gave herself away. incredible story!
great fish and great story paul. i upgraded from a 4lber to a 6lber recently when my jig came loose from the first fish and the second one grabbed it when she saw it pop loose. that was fun to watch.
-
a strange bite.
yep, it could easily have been a 5-6lber, but it was a chunk with broad shoulders.

a strange bite.
i can honestly say i have never considered a trailer hook until last night. the fish were back in thick pads. so i do see the hangups as a problem with even a "weedless" hook. not to mention the fact that i have only found one hook that i dont bend. the 6/0 straight shank superline gami. however, i will say that if i ever am short struck again, i will be at least giving it a try.

a strange bite.
it is rare for me to have fish "short striking" the toad, but they were last night. i had a 6-9:30pm tourny last night, and had 4 fish short strike me. they would come up to eat it and miss, id drop the rod and they just wouldnt be there. we ended up with 4 fish and with the kicker we found it was enough for big bass and 1st place, but all the same it should have been well over a 20lb stringer.

Favorite toad rods?
im on my 3rd daiwa light and tough and my 4th team daiwa-s rod. for a total of 5 broken rods this season.

Favorite toad rods?
id love to hear what you guys use. i use 65lb braid and hit them hard so my love for the nice sensitive action of the daiwa heavy light and tough has been overshadowed by the fact that i am on my third one this year due to breakage. im thinking of shopping for a new style.

Harris - Kissimee - Central Florida Fishing Report
i was getting four foot swells over the front of my boat, where the current coming south hit the waves coming north. that did seem to slow the bite, if not kill it.

Harris - Kissimee - Central Florida Fishing Report
yeehaw, gotta love a good lot of rain. if you need to believe in kissimmee again. get out there while the water is running. it is easy to put 30 fish in the boat. anywhere the water is moving you can catch them. cranking.... wormin... pick your poison. the feeder creeks have slowed down, but the main canals and lake fed canals are moving.

Frog Fish

Prop magic in the Mist.
I wrote a tribute to the best prop man ive found. The Prop Dr. of Killen, AL He pushes himself out of the rocking chair on the front porch and steps onto the butt of his cigarette. He snuffs the embers of the one last drag he took. He looks out across the mist. The barn is barely visible, but the steps are familiar. Okay, okay, i have no idea what this guy is like. I do know that what he touches turns to gold. I own two props: a Mercury Tempest, and a Mercury Tempest Plus. Now, generally the plus means better right? And my brand new Tempest Plus was better at the factory setting than my Tempest after it came back re-worked from Admiral over in Tampa. When RJ over off of Olive said, "You've got to send it to the Prop Wizard in Alabama." I did. My Tempest @ factory cut hadn't worked well. Then when Admiral sent it back it was worse. I bought the new Tempest Plus and was satisfied. I was running 66 mph at 5800 rpm's and that seemed livable. My hub slipped on the Plus. I pulled out the Tempest. Untouched since The Alabama man had shipped it to me. Somewhere around 69mph @ 5300 rpm's I layed it back down. I have never felt this boat chime walk. I have never been up on the pad. Not till now. This man turned the lesser into the greater, and if you need prop work. I may give you his contact information, but only if i don't need to get in line first. http://bigfishoutfitters.blogspot.com/

i cant say if it is in the editing or what, but this year your man aaron martens has come off like a big whiner. he's staking claims in community holes w/ velvick. and he poaches evers hole from last years oneida where evers won it, and claims evers is on "his" fish. im with you on steve kennedy. great guy. gotta root for the hometown boys here though. lane and lane.

swimbaits and water clarity
It has been my understanding that swimbaits generally are better in clear water. i have only really tried them in clear water, so i am interested in your experience of their performance related to water clarity. also, i assume that the hardbait swimbaits would be more adaptable to stained and muddy water applications, based on vibration, am i right?

Mattlures Ultimate Bluegill: Ultimate Fishing Experience
nice fish! mission fish has a repair glue that is like superglue, but it stays soft when it dries. im sure there are other options like it available out there. i've been throwing some swimbaits in a lake i fish in central florida. i am dragging them above brush in 15 ft of water, so i am on my 3rd mattlures baby bass, and on my 4th mission fish 3:16... i have decreased in numbers when i chunk the swimbait, but my avg size goes way up. i threw up a little comparative review on my blog of the two swimbaits. http://bigfishoutfitters.blogspot.com/2008/08/2-swimbaits.html paul, are you throwing those things in stained/muddy water w/ success? cause i havent tried them much except in the clear water lakes i fish.
