  1. if it will hit as a cat 5 we might actually have some work to do around here lee!
  2. five bass limit, according the the another site article @ http://another site/news_article.asp?id=3018 hibdon said to his sons, "We're going to drop some brush." and then it says "He dropped about 30 piles throughout the lake in strategic locations." in florida if you do this on a public body of water or a private body of water w/ more than 2 owners w/ access to the lake you have to have a permit. and if you do it on a navigable waterway, like kissimmee you are going to jail. i couldnt find any sort of info on a law on it in sc, but im shocked that it is unrestricted. maybe even more shocked that he would talk about having done it to the interviewer.

micro, i had trouble getting good casting distance w/ this frog.... how are you finding it? i like the subtle action when the bite calls for it, but...
  5. i mean, real value, the nada is nowhere close these days to the actual price you could get. e.g. the ranger commanche that the guy is selling gets a bogus value at LOW RETAIL on nada of $13,900 and he is starting at 10,000. If a seller thinks he'll get nada these days he is on the crack pipe. and without accounting for a newer motor and many extras, mine shows a low retail value of 15,135. this is clearly unattainable. i dont want to short change myself, but i dont want my "boat sponsor" to pay too much for it either.
  6. how where you wearing your baseball cap?
  7. Boats are cheap now! Price of gas? People liquidating leisure items in a down economy? Who knows? I was on craigslist yesterday and found a 1999 procraft 20ft w/ a 200 mariner on it for 6k, and a 99 ranger comanche w/ a 200 evinrude for 10k. yikes. so i have a '99 stratos w/ a '00 225 merc opti on it. a 109 thrust motorguide. 2 networked lowrance 527c gps/sonar units, w/ fuel flow, networked temp, etc. hydrolic jack plate. runs right at 70. functionally it is in excellent shape. cosmetically its more of a 6 out of 10. carpet is worn. gel coat is not perfect in spots. a few scratches on the hull. someone approached me that wants to be a boat sponsor for me for tournaments. i am supposed to quote them a fair market value to "buy" my boat for me.

best toad: soft plastics: -for castability and subtle presentation - horny toad. -for nicest gurgle - stanley ribbit hollow-body: -best all around - spro bronze-eye best of both worlds: -combines the buzz-bait type action w/ the ability to pause on top - scumfrog bigfoot. http://bigfishoutfitters.blogspot.com/2008/08/bigfoot-sighting.html
  9. I dont know if you guys have ever tried an alternative to the pricey culling systems out there. A Cheaper alternative for Culling Fish: I have not seen a culling system on the market for less than $17 dollars. You can easily make a better system for less. So get yourself: 6 Bobbers = $1.35 6 Zip Ties = $0.65 1 Metal Stringer = $2.99 Rubberized Line = $5.00 Total = $9.99 My picture of the final product is not very clear, but as you can see there is no explanation necessary. You thread the line through the bobber and tie it. At the metal clasp end you zip tie it, and add a waterproof tape if you would like to ensure that you do not damage the fish with the zip tie. Take a permanent marker and mark them 1-6 so that you can identify the fish more easily and make culling quick and easy. _________________________________________________ Good idea to save a few bucks. Instead of using waterproof tape to cover the ziptie, you could use some heat shrink tubing for protecting wire connections. Nice clean look, and no worries with the tape. However, when I tried that I melted the rubberized line. If you can think your way around that obstacle I would prefer to do it that way then you wouldn't even need the zip tie.
  10. lakeland, fl represent!
  11. hit me up when your headed this way.
  12. Retail is tough, i've turned my belly up a couple of times doing it. My friend bought out an existing tackle shop w/ a reasonable client base. He bought it for less than 1/4 of the wholesale inventory value. he just took his first vacation in 3 years, he works 12 hours a day 6 days a week, and doesnt make a good living at it yet. I would say that the he has done better lately as a result of "value added" kinds of services. buying big lots of tackle and selling it on the sidewalk for "clearance" prices on sundays. doing rod and real repair. and on. i am pessimistic, but im in florida where the bloom is off of the economic rose (im a out of work homebuilder.)
  13. I would give you tons of pointers on how to deal with it! type on typer. ill give you some specs to diagnose it w/ - i have a six inch hydrolic jack plate. -my mechanic is trying to get me to invert some wedges on it to get it further back into that "sweet water" - w/ the factory tempest plus, i could trim it all the way out to were the top of the prop was basically running on the surface of the water w/out cavitating or whatever. this one gets a little squirrelly if i trim it out that hard in terms of porpoising and chime walk. im still playing w/ it, cause i ran out of lake to fast where i first ran it, but it seems like when i drop the jack plate lower it runs a little less loose. anyway, type on typer...

    This is encouraging to hear!
  15. oh very happy... the reason i slowed down @72 was because the chime walk threw me for a loop, i havent really felt it in this boat till now. im thinking if i punched id down id get on the pad and fly, but who needs it w/ $4 gas?

Thats always the challenge, eh? And it really leads to the problem... who can you really trust. Forums do seem the least biased... with some obvious exceptions.
  17. Over a year ago I sold a gas hog 2000 225 Evinrude Vindicator off the back of my boat and bought a 225 Mercury Optimax from a guy who had it on a 17ft Cajun, Talk about OVERPOWERED. It had a 27inch 4 blade junk prop on it, so i tried a million different props before i found a tolerable one in a factory spec'd Mercury Tempest Plus 26 pitch 3 blade. My hole shot was slow, but i could get my 1999 Stratos up to 68mph at 5850 rpm's so i was happy. In the meantime i had bought a backup prop, a tempest 26p 3 blade that i had sent off to a local company to rework. well, it was horrid on a test run, so my man at the local shop said, "send it off to this guy i know in georgia, he is a mad-scientist with this stuff." I figured what the heck, ill give him a shot at it. Meanwhile i grew comfortable w/ my t. plus and didnt bother to test the tempest when it came back. Here i am over a year later and my t. plus's hub gets a little sloppy, so i throw the tempest on while i consider getting the t.plus re-hubbed. After a Fast hole shot and somewhere around 72mph at 5600 rpm's im screaming "this guy is a genius," and calculating gas savings in my head. Im in love at last, and im sending off my tempest plus to the mad scientist as soon as i remember his name and address.
  18. What is your number one tackle review source? e.g. magazine, friends, forums, tackle review site?
  19. The water is up again at kissimmee, so a lot of water should open up again. Whether or not they will eat will be anyones guess, but i like it this way better than the alternative.

  21. which stereotype is that? that we are a conglomeration of backwoods, denture wearing, dipping, chewing, rebel flag flying hicks with two or three rusted out beaters propped up on blocks in the front yard? so what if some of us are. i say a guy who gums his food and has a hard time typing correct sentences has every right to try to use this technology to learn to fish better; at least as much right as the next guy. so... how about the propagation of the stereotype that assumes that just because someone uses incorrect punctuation and a lower case "i" that they are lazy or ignorant? to the original question - is it ignorance or laziness? the answer is no! on which side does the ignorance lie? the english language has been the most adaptable of all languages from the beginning. its origins are both latin and germanic, which are not made to mix, this can be seen in the multiplicity of endings that we use for tenses. and the english language is shifting again as it always has, from the influence of the common vernacular. you can a) get on board or pretend that the language isnt evolving, and become more or less irrelevant. coherence is a TWO way street. it comes from a latin root meaning to be connected. and COmmunication also implies a COmmunity of understanding. if you read and dont understand chaucer, or spenser, or dryden, or pope, do you blame the old english masters for their lack of ability to speak correctly? no. BUT if you listen to a rap song and you dont understand the lyrics you probably do. BUT where does the ignorance lie? there is an entire subset of people who understand PERFECTLY well what the rapper is saying. so you can do one of two things, you can retreat into your ivory tower and bemoan the day when english language wasnt butchered in this way (although to be fair the entire language was put together higgledy piggledly from the cuttings on the floor of a language butcher shop), or you can acknowledge that, "the ignorance at this moment is on my side, and if i am to understand this i will need to expand my vocabulary." ya feel me? lollers! p0wnage! but... what the "h" do i know, maybe im just a dumba$$
  22. as a postscript to my earlier post i would like to say that people have long been trying to answer this question of why we capitalize "i" (which only happened as recently as the middle ages). a good introductory article that addresses the question would be http://www.linguistlist.org/issues/9/9-253.html... enjoy. also, my use of the "..." at the end of the sentence is philisophical. although our world certainly operates on absolute principles, our ability to understand them, much less interpret and express them, is impared... and even if it were not, could i have reasonable confidence that your ability was in no way impaired?... therefore, i end the sentence with "..." as if to say, "this is not a complete thought", or at least, "i have not completely or exhaustively expressed this thought," or at least, "i am not confident that you will fully understand what i am saying given our varied experiences of reality." death to enlightenment and modernist arrogance! hello "i" and "..."!
  23. someone give this guy an mls dictionary... that is way to many !!!!'s. wait have i been using improper punctiation and grammer. again with the "emotion" symbols... my lit prof would turn over in her grave. i actually like the newer trend in writing that doesnt confine punctiation and traditional structures in terms of grammer, as long as it doesnt sacrifice coherance (unless it is doing this deliberately which is cool too)... reference cormac macarthy's "the road" - great book. i stopped capitalizing the word "i" when i thought about how ego-centric it is as a grammatical construct. why do i capitalize "i" when i dont capitalize "you"? riddle me that. word up, fo sheezy!
  24. faircloth wins. if you were one of the other 100 odd elites who would you want to see win it? so if you were going to clue somebody in would it be kvd or faircloth?
