  1. the ringtone on my phone is the old ringydingy, as well. and, still have the rotary my mother had when she died in '99.
  2. personal preference. ok for tipdown...the carrot is actually a pretty good cranker...but, for tipup, they all feel like fishing with a 7' pistolgrip. as far as sensitivity, when i find one that can beat a bcr803 glx, i'll suffer thru it. until then, i won't.
  3. x2. that flutter is what makes this bait an incredible producer. so much, i moved it up in rotation above the old trusty chrome/blue rattletrap. have also done extremely well with the lc's in ghost minnow.
  4. yea...the morrum's could walk with anything out there.
  5. the sad part is the only artists in that video was the guy making that good water... and whoever made 3 of those 42 women wearing bikini's. 8-)
  6. would like to think i'm openminded enough not to have a favorite brand. that said, my two favorites are the mbr782 and the bcr803. they never go anywhere without me.
  7. have worked with civil engineers for 35 years. almost 1/3 of all graduates fail the state license test their first try. am not saying that to discourage you...it can be a rewarding and lucrative career...am just saying, like the others, it takes a good deal of commitment to get there. as well, it takes a lotta math and a lotta common sense and, based on some of the engineers i've met, those things don't exactly mix.
  8. i voted jessica alba. she aint much of a survivalist but, after a week of being stranded with her, i ain't coming back alive anyways.
  9. how times have changed. still have one of those old abu's...fished it right alongside an old lew's and, at the time, thought it just didn't get any better. well...it did. 50mg and steez 100/103.
  10. green for tip down. clear for tip up, mainly because i can no longer see the green for tip up anymore.
  11. i would look at the sjr782, as well...the 843 is an excellent rod but, in my hands, is a tad tip-heavy...which was one of the complaints with the rod you currently use.
  12. What timeline do you see for the bank problems to hit bottom? robbing peter to pay paul is never a good thing. robbing peter to pay peter is worse. as bette davis once said, "hang on, folks, cause i think we're in for a bumpy ride."
  13. as rw stated, it's kinda hard to mix trebles and singles together and do it well but, another good option in your price range and purposes is the mbr782. if you leaned more toward plastics than cranks, would recommend the 783.
  14. just don't put the babies on the back of a ball head. just don't. am just saying. 8-)
  15. The problem is not paying for a pretty wife, the problem is paying to keep her pretty. the problem is paying to make her go away.
  16. catch a fish, sell the lure... catch a fish, sell the rod... catch a fish, sell the reel... catch a fish, sell charlie's crotch... and so it goes. will say that ike's show was one of the few i've seen that did not push product. a day on the lake is good, as well.
  17. have lost fish on the normans, as well. use the crossloks now.
  18. earl morrell took the colts to the s.b. in 1969...unitas went down early that year. he also took miami to the s.b. in 1972, the undefeated year...griese also went down early but came back for the big game. tho morrell was the backup qb for both teams, for all intents and purposes, he was the qb that got them both there.
  19. what the heck's a grinder? only grinders we got is halfnaked and slides up and down poles on a bar. those other thing we just call subs.

your not the first i've heard say this. first saw the original "day" in 1956. i was mesmerized. saw it again the other day on tmc...outside of the hokey acting on the army parts, it still held the same fascination. sad, when movie execs think they can replace heart with pizzazz.

this is on my list. would much rather spend my money on clint as i had keanu. as a side note, i actually owned a gran torino...but it was the original '69 model, not the later model shown in the film.
  22. i'll make one addendum. one lake i fish has clarity from 2' to 4'...one lake i fish has maybe 4" to 6" if you're lucky. i hit both hard jan. to june and the prevailing condition on the shadraps effectiveness seems to be water temps rather than clarity. ymmv.
  23. the core/chronarch mainframe is one of the most comfortable have ever used...no turnkey dials, no magnetic dials, no stealth bomber angles, no screw inserts. put one in your hands and all you feel, palm or fingers, is smooth. simplicity has always been the hallmark of elegance.
  24. palomar for all things...it is the knot i have most faith in. for cranks, i just tie it to a crosslok.
  25. once caught the same 8# bass (markings) off the same point on the same lake on the same bait (frog subwart) 3 straight saturdays in a row. bass are kinda like people. some got the smarts. some don't.
