depends on the rod. most quality rods will handle a tad over the upper limits, especially with the softer lob casts...rod fatigue eventually comes into play if you consistently overpower it. looking on the bright side, rearing back and humming a bait well over its rating will eventually get you a brand new rod.

for those weights, i would go for the 845. it will handle 90% of the cranks you'll ever throw.

just turn off the brake in the opposite spoke...or remove it. either way, you should be fine.
