Daiwa Steez Reel Question
certainly not disputing anyone's word here and this may be a matter of semantics more than anything else...but, the 100ha's i own carry the standard magforce z spools. the 103ha's i own carry the magforce v spools. can't speak to the 7.1 models.

Daiwa Steez Reel Question
the 100 and the 103 both come in either 6.3.1 or 7.1. the main difference, imo, is in the braking...simply put, the 103 uses magforce v...the 100 uses magforce z. volumes have been written about the difference but, in plain english, the 103 is a pitching machine and, in my hands, handles the lighter baits better...one of mine is matched with a bcr803. with heavier baits, the 100 gets the nod...and is matched with a bcr804. that doesn't mean you can't put a 100 on an 803 or vice versa...it just means i prefer the 103 on the 803 and the 100 on the 804. ymmv.

as a side-track, how do you beat a ranked team and then get ranked above the team you beat? understand strength of schedule, scoring, blah, blah, blah but, to me, it shows the flaw in any ranking. you should be ranked in front of any team you beat until someone beats you. not tooting ole miss's horn...earlier this year, the trojans got ranked better than the team that beat them, as well. am just saying.

glx imx gl3 gl2 the bcr's come in the glx model and the mossyback model...the mossyback model is a proprietary blend, long suspected on many boards as a mix of imx and gl3. if i'm reading your post right, you're looking at either the mbr843 imx/gl3 or the bcr853...in my hands, 3/8 oz. pretty much nails the sweet spot with either rod. that said, the 843 is a fast action...the 853 is an extra fast action which, again in my hands, would handle the occasional 1/2 oz. a tad better. ymmv.

mbr783 imx. am just saying.- Best use for a Calais 100a

slower, maybe. older?...nah! 8-)- Headed to Death Valley
been to death valley once, long ago...ole miss (with archie) won that day. when you're with the opposing team in death valley and that team scores touchdowns, you learn how to celebrate them... ...quietly.- when i do

some tackle to win a game. some tackle in ways to not get hurt.- crankbait rod.
the abu 5000 series are excellent reels but, in my hands, they suffer somewhat casting the lower weights. a more moderate action rod like the bps cranker will help.- Cara vs IMX
which 7' h model cara do you own? if memory serves, the only 7' h cara models are the 6-17 and the 7-17 lizard draggers...while they are good rods for heavy c-rigging, they are not good for much else...at least, in my hands. have also owned the 6-1610h...the comparable imx (mbr844) will feel lighter, faster and much more crisp. in short, it took a lot more weight with the cara to feel plastics deep than it does with the 844. ymmv.- Upset Alert

am liking it...so far. wonder if shane matthews is watching this game. 8-) - First fluorocarbon
