good-looking truck. hard to beat a "tonka" these days.
  4. the cbr works fine with 1/4 oz. can't speak to the sol...have a steez on mine.
  5. the handle on the 845 is right at 8 1/8 inches...that includes the butt cap. some prefer a longer handle but, after fishing the cbr, i wouldn't go back to a longer handle...it just feels right to me anymore...i have big hands and have no problem two-fisting it. the cbr 5 and the avid mhm have similar actions, the avid might be a tad faster. my preference is the cbr because of the handle and the slightly slower action but both are excellent cranking rods. p.s....the cbr 3 and the avid mm are too wimpy for me, as well.
  6. in my waters, the best producer by far in cold water, clear or stained, is the lc american shad...the rapala silver/black back scheme is a close second. as clear waters warm, the "ghost" colors (ghost minnow, ghost sunfish, ghost ayu) produce better...ghost sunfish is a killer in clear bluegill waters. as stained waters warm, the chartreuse rootbeers become the go-to. your waters may vary somewhat but, imo, you can go anywhere in this country and catch bass on cranks based somewhat on those basic colors, depending on season.
  7. it works fine for short line apps, such as pitching, flipping, etc....but, for longer line apps (cranking, spinners and c-rigs, etc.), you can run outta line pretty quick...depending on rod and thumb. the 12# yo-zuri hybrid mentioned above is my recommendation, as well...it is a strong, tough line that works extremely well on the core.
  8. mbr783 steez 103 15# trilene 100%
  9. zoom ole monster. tough to beat here.
  10. as mentioned, the compres are an excellent rod for the money...personally, would put them a tad above the lowrider and the premier. ymmv.
  11. bump the back hook up one size. the pointer 65 is another option, as well.

    x2.
  13. never had that problem with the ca200a...seems that would be more problematic with the ca200sf.
  14. never. no telling where their mouths have been.
  15. what rod are you using?
  16. the originals were tanks...a lotta folks (myself included) on a lotta boards seem to prefer the original over the newer model. if you opt for the original, you may have to wax or muddy up the white plate on top...if the sun hits it just right, it's like a death-ray to the eyes. other than that, perfect for pitching and flipping.

  18. halibut, west coast...flounder, east coast. the eyes roll over to the top of the right side in one, to the top of the left in the other. otherwise, same fish.
  19. if memory serves, the msrp on the cu200b was $119.00, the 100b was $129.00 and the sf was $149.00.
  20. rain doesn't bother me. it's those streaking hot, million-volt flashy things that jot outta the sky that get next to me.
  21. will say this. she's either got a lotta balls or very little brain.
  22. i'll say it again.........if it works, it's worth it. if it don't, it ain't.
  23. ballhead. 3/0 usually...1/4 oz.
