I have some older Rapalas marked Made in Ireland on them. Believe they were Fat Raps. Everything from Ireland is better
  2. Sorry couldn't resist
  3. Syncing an Abu is very simple. Actually everything on an Abu is simple to work on. My Cabelas Round Prodigy will easily out cast my C-5 (even with it's Mag-control) when it comes to very light lures. If the op is not noticing a difference, chances are he is not using light lures.
  4. Disengaging level winds have a lower start up momentum (inertia) than engaged level winds. My Abu C3,4,5's (non disengaging)can't throw a light lure as well as my Cabela's round Prodigy, or Ryobi Varius (disengaging). What type reels are you speaking of? On heavier lures, the engaged levelwind will have less friction because the "guide" follows the line as it comes off the spool. J Franco will be along with a better way to say it
  5. Can be bought much less than $100 when on sale too
  6. Original Chatterbait? Not known for having sharp hooks out of the box.
  7. Bad news everyone. The bait monkey also has a son
  8. Using a known productive lure can't hurt either!
  9. If he's interested in trying, go for it. Like anything else, practice and positive comments (advice from Dad). Every kid wants to be "just like Dad". Make it fun, for him and yourself
  10. She will never let you forget the 10 pounder YOU let go!
  11. somebody doesn't have both oars in the water
  12. Sounds like they are showing reruns of "Twilight Zone" in BC's home town.
  13. Been out in the sun again eh BC?
  14. I know your heart is set on buying a new reel, but a rod designed to cast light lures is at least as important as the reel.
  15. Been seeing those flying saucers overhead again?
  16. Glad it's no longer on the top of your head
  17. Depends on how shallow, shallow is SSR5/7 Rapala in black over silver
  18. I always thought you were out in the sun too long It happened to me kayaking in Hawaii, not fun at all.
  19. I think anyone who wants in should be able to join. No money is involved, and we can all use it as a learning experience.
  20. It looks normal to me. Maybe it's the settings on the some other's computer?
  21. I never tried that, but it sounds like a good idea
  22. And she might be handy with a fillet knife too
  23. Take the wife/girlfriend out to dinner. Think of it as an insurance policy
