Oh no! Reel broken!
Well while fishing today, the spring on the bail of my diawa regal broke, like snapped in half. So, can i just get a replacement spring from somwhere, take back to BP(really don't wanna do that since i live a gazillion miles away from one and i only went there once for my rod and reel), or send it to the reel mechanic(which i don't want to do either because i dont wanna pay 20 bucks plus shipping plus the part when all i need is the spring). So what is my best bet?

Im a topwater man now!
Well not TOTALLY topwater but definitly excited about them. Today i headed to my usuall spot and tried a shkey head rig, caught a nice 1lb bass as soon as i droped it in. but for another hour i didn't get shift! then i saw a guy using a spro hollow bodied frog and he said he had 10 blow ups and a i think he said 7 bass. So i tried a stanley ribbit frog i had bought but never used. Second cast i had a blowup, I was so excited i yanked my rod as hard as i could and didnt relize the fish didn't even hit my frog! So i duck out the way of the flying frog and try again. 2 more blow ups and no bass later, i was getting frustrated, so i switched to a snag-proff hollowbodied frog, you know the ones whose legs have NO action what so ever! Well, first hit and for about 3 seconds the bass was on but he got off >. So I did what any other fisherman would do, I tried again. next one was more succesfull, was on probly for a few extra seconds..... :-[. Sooooooooo, i tried again. I cast past some lily's rell over the lilys and as soon as the frog gets over the lilys, BOOM, big blowup! wel i reel and reel and he ran me over to some nasty weeds floating on the surface so i had to reel him and 2 pounds of weeds. when i get him ashore, I'm wondering "Is there a fish in there, because if there isn't im done with this" well after almost a minute of searching through the weeds, my prize! A nice 2lb bass, although i didn't catch every fish that blewup, I now will be dreaming about them tonight. One question, is there anyway i can increase the blowup:hookup ratio?

Color selection for low-vis water?
I would definitly recomend the big bladed spinner, i have the same problem as you do and the bigger blade helped. Also, pink and chartruse worms work pretty good i hear, but where i fish, the more natural colors work much better.

Do I NEED a leader for braid?
I have one spinning rod that i do everything with, and i don't want to put a leader on whenever i switch my lure. I'm fishing in water where usually u can only see about a 1ft down and there are a ton of rocks, logs, branches, and weeds for me to fray my line on and i want somthing tougher. but i'm not willing to tie on leaders. I've heard of people taking a sharpie and making some dashes on their line because it makes it harder for a bass to see the dashed line?

Jitterbugs
Like everyone has said, the slow and steady with some pauses is excellent. I use a solid black jitterbug i got from my grandpa that he used when he was my age, top notch bait.

Back in action!
I've never heard of any fish holding in such a tight place! i also tried a stanly ribbit frog but they didn't like it, next time i run to wally world ill pick a hollow bodied frog and some rage tail. Probly a floating worm would also work, as i was fishing the super tight pockets i noticed bass biting at shad or flys all around me. Nothing more exciting than a topwater bite explosion!

My Nightmare Came True Today
mabey in somthing that is more easy to tip you could have some kind of strap to connect your tackle box to the conoe so if this happens again, the tackle will stay with the canoe. also straps for your rods mabey?

Back in action!
Well after being in a slum for about a month, getting skunked EVERY DAY,to day I caught 2 lm not monsters but both were 1 1/2 lbs or more. So lemme tell my situation: The main canal I fished was clogged with that cotton stuff that floats around and comes off of trees, well now that fall is coming and the baitfish are coming back in, so I tried the canal, I smacked a senko on top of the mats that the cotton crap makes, about 3-4ft off shore, well when i was floping on the mats, a bass exploded looking like a man grabing it from the water through the mats. Well when i accidentally droped my senko after taking off the fish into the water not even 2 inches off shore, !SPLASH! a bass exploded the second it hit the water, but missed..... so I continued smacking the senko on the mats, like 1 ft off shore, and most of the time they missed, but it was really cool because the water was really shallow and I could see the wake of the bass coming from shore towards my bait. So two questions: 1. Anyone else smack a weedless lure on top of mats? Never heard of it and wondering if I was first! 2. Why are bass right next to the shore, almost on it! Are they waiting for mabey mice or frogs to fall in?

I think I'm done
i also had this. i fished so much and got used to spring with all the easy fish that when summer came, i couldn't catch $@%# got ticked and took a break, for about a month and then the bass are soming back in shallow for me to find, and im back in the groove! Also, I'll bet you get the bass bug again over the winter wait! ;D

Bait Monkey chasin minors!
Took my brother to Wally World on a restocking trip. My brother goes to the cranks and says "Oh sweet! That looks cool I think Ima get some!" No idea what it does, just looks cool. Then looks at the senko imatations(kinami), says "I have a feeling those will work". Buys 5 packs without even really knowing what they do. I tell him that feeling that they work is the bait monkey telling you to buy them fool! My brother is only 12, the monkey is grabing younger I tell you!

Fall, same as Spring?
Well im fishing in a little canal off of lake st. claire. Recently a lot of cotton from cottonwood trees clogged up the river creating a lot of mats of just nasty stuff. Well today i has floping a 5 inch senko on top of these mats just messing around and a 15 inch bass explode out the mat! Also there some bass that i saw that were no more than 2 inches away from shore, and when i droped in the wacky senko they exploded! It was quite amazing watching the wake, for they were in no more than 6 inches of water. Anyone know why they were holding so so close to the shore? Also we have an abundance of shad in my water. along with small, skinny, 5-6in perch. lots of lilypads along with that nasty stuff.

Do senkos work for smaller fish?
Nice try bro, but i went out today and caught a 7 incher on my 5 incher! So your little scheme fails!
-
Why must they do this?
What the?! Scare the hell outta me won't you!
-
Do senkos work for smaller fish?
Ok so smaller baits are more for quanity over quality kinda thing and the biggerbaits weed out the small ones. Gotcha
-
Do senkos work for smaller fish?
what does that mean, too many tourny fish and why would a bigger bait get more fish?
-
Do senkos work for smaller fish?
Like the title said, do they? They just seem like they would not fit in a fish's mouth or that they would only bite the back half. :-/ The Reviews sound top notch but i just have this feeling in the back of my head. The biggest fish i caught in the lake i fish is like 3lbs and the average is 1 1/2 And I DID look in the senko fact list before posting this. I'de just thought I would note that to show people im responsible.
