  1. I've been away from the forum for a few months but I know a while back there was a BR member from Mexico (Raul I think was his name, but I could be wrong on that). He seemed to be a good source of information. If I'm wrong, someone else here help him out and put him in touch with a good source. Keep asking around and I'm sure someone here will be able to help you out. Good luck. Mike
  2. Check out this video: Not really a fall, but funny anyway.
  3. Thanks for the website. Is there any television coverage of these events in the US? I just heard about these college tournaments last year. Wow, talk about a southerner's dream...college fishing, followed by college football, and then throw in a NASCAR event for good measure and our day is done! (I'm originally from TN.) I think there is a collegiate fisherman here on BR, but I can't remember who it is or what college he attends. Maybe there's even more than one. Anyone know who it is and how they finished this year? (I've been away for a while so if this has already been discussed here I apologize in advance.)
  4. Different people are going to tell you different things based on preference. But, I like to throw them around fallen/submerged trees. Ditto...

  6. I've seen refrigerators delivered on motorcycles here in Korea. I've also seen families of five traveling the town on a motorcycle. No joke!
  7. OK...I'm a smoker...and after much encouragement (nagging) from my wife, I plan to quit smoking for the new year. Anyone want to join me? You know, misery loves company! Anyone interested, let me know...I'd love to have a partner in this. Having said that, this won't be the first time I've quit. I wasn't before and I won't be this time the person who thinks that just because I've quit, EVERYONE ELSE should quit. Its a personal choice and I accept it that way.
  8. Hey, everyone wants to see a record streak (except for the teams that it takes down). But if you're a Colts fan, you have to be honest and say what if they had left all the starters in and Manning goes down for the rest of the season with an injury. The goal of every team is to win the Super Bowl. I'm sure everyone on the Colts would love to have had a perfect season, but a perfect regular season without a Super Bowl is respectable but counts for very little in the big picture of the season. I respect the decision to play it safe.
  9. Go Linux! I've used it for three years and absolutely love it. It obviously isn't 100% safe, but better than Microsoft in my opinion. And the best part is that since its 100% free, they don't hijack you every two years for an upgrade.
  10. The one that sticks in my mind probably wasn't really all that big. But when I was maybe 6 years old, we went on a family picnic fishing trip to Bledsoe Creek in middle TN. My sister and I were catching bluegill with our cane poles and my dad was making a few casts here and there during the time he wasn't helping us out. I went down the bank a few yards and noticed a rock a little bit under the water with a large crack in it. I dropped my worm and bobber in front of that crack and my bobber immediately went under. I tried to pull it up and pulled up a bass that fell off as it reached the top of the water. My knees were shaking but I didn't tell anyone about it because I wanted to catch that fish on my own. Instead, I re-baited my hook and went back, dropped my worm in the same place and he bit again with the same results. I went back for a third try to no avail. Now that fish was probably well under two pounds, maybe even less than one, but to my young eyes, I was sure it weighed between 5-10 pounds depending on how much I thought about it. And that my friends, will probably be the smallest "big one that got away" story you'll ever hear.
  11. Any of you have experience with solar battery chargers like the one here: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_10203830____SearchResults My inflatable boat is powered exclusively by a trolling motor and I'm wondering if these would extend my battery time enough to make the purchase worthwhile. Any tips or other info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. KB
  12. I'm in, but let it be said that I'm there to feed the rest of your egos. I don't do well at these things usually. I don't help myself any by losing interest when the weather warms up and I become more interested in my own fish catching. I signed up last year around this same time and set my roster for the first tourney and then the ice melted here and I don't know that I ever went back to the site. I'll try to stay more involved this year.
  13. I'll toss my two cents in for what its worth. I think it would be great to keep it going just to see how far it can go. Of course, the obvious drawback to this is it getting hung up or lost in some manner and then having nothing left of it. But if the general consensus is to retire the current lure, then I can live with that decision too. It's been fun and if another one is started, count me in.

  15. Hey there...thanks for the update. Did you have any luck with the lure? I'll update the list with your details and repost it later.
  16. Nothing yet. I sent him PM a few days ago asking about the lure status but haven't heard anything from him since his post a couple of weeks ago saying he was planning to keep it "one more week". Maybe we'll hear something soon.
  17. Anyone heard from SimonSays? I sent him a message asking about the status of the lure but have yet to receive a response.

  22. Updated 24 JUL 08. In the interest of keeping this thing moving along, I would like to suggest to everyone that when you receive the lure, go ahead and decide who you plan to send it to next and ask for their mailing info. This will potentially eliminate the day or two of waiting for that info after you are finished with it. Also, anyone on the forum is more than welcome to participate, but please keep in mind the people who have "signed up" for it on the list above when deciding where it goes next. Anyone can be added to the list at any time by simply posting a desire to participate. The list above is in chronological order by post date with members who have already had it being deleted. If anyone on this list has changed their name on the forum, please let me know and I will update the list accordingly. Good luck and keep it fun.
