  1. Lake fork baby crawdad on 1/8 ounce jighead Rapala DT4 in bluegill around shallow rock is excellent Bps XTS green crawdad squarebill crankbait is also a go to for shallow rocky flatsl 5inch kvd perfect plastic ocho wacky when smallies dont wana bite is also a favorite. Last but not least any 4inch tube will get the job done
  2. If targeting bigger ones generally in lakes try bigger football head jigs around bolders and bluffs. Rivers try the lucky craft pointer or a 4inch swimbait.
  3. Floats. i think they are the best cranks on the market.
  4. I dont know what happened to me this season. Not a win or even a second place. Last year I had three wins and won my curcuits AOY. So does anyone have any tips so that I can save my season with only 4 tournaments remaining?
  5. Try a buzzbait thats a great pond killer. Also i find alot of luck on texas rig worms and crawbeavers. try worms in open water and throw the beaver to any piece of cover there is. even if its just a blade of grass. good luck
  6. agree. Also try a rapala DT4 or DT6 in bluegill color around shallower shoreline cover. that might produce for you. but for that deeper water deff a shakyhead worm or dropshot good luck
  7. I always liked tubes more for spring creek smallies. but a few falls ago i found an unsual rig for fall smallies in creeks. this might sound strange but it works. try a 3inch tube rigged on a short carolina rig. the tube will suspend in the current and the smallies love it. a great way to catch some giants as well
  8. I have caught some of my biggest smallmouth on the smallest baits i would ever throw. I am a huge fan of microcraws. Try a small 3inch yum baby crawbug for those gaint bass and see what you come with.
  9. I agree. i rly like it too. Even tho the sammy preforms slightly better for me i rather throw the xts walker cuz the sammy breaks the bank for me.
  10. SLOW DOWN! there micro craws on a light jighead. fish around current breaks. TARGET UNDERCUT ROCKS!!! smallies will go under em to keep out of the sun and since the water is constantly moving the shallow depths wont affect there activity much surprising. just be graceful and stealthy cuz these smallies will be very spooky and if they see you b4 they see the bait they will not bite.
  11. x2. Just try to make the frog look as real as possible and take note on how the fish want it
  12. well yes it is a small club that talks about them. Thanx. so i guess i have expermenting to do with these
  13. Good article. I havent had a good day on susquehanna for years. used to be my favorite. now its just a waste of gas. Population in harrisburg is not helping the population either. I recomend checking out the west branch of the susquehanna. its much smaller with more current but it def has good populations of healthy smallmouth.
  14. Any type of grass is fine by me. my favorite is where any two different types of grass meet. like cattails and lilypads. thats where the big ones lay. i voted for cattails tho. love throwing a fluke in pockets
  15. I just fished a tournament and it seemed that everyone was throwing the senko. Then there were other guys that swear against the senko bite. I fished all day long before breaking down and throwing a wacky rigged senko. i caught my only fish on it. The top 5 anglers in the tourney all caught em on senkos. I was wondering why do fish pass up worms, tubes, craws and brush hogs but hit that plain jane senko?
  16. Deff Black Jitterbug. Just came off a night tourney and i tore em up on a black 5inch curly tail worm. Try your aggresive techinques and if the smallmouth are not responding try slowing down and throwing a black worm
  17. Got a club tournament on this river next weekend but have plans on prefishing it this weekend. i have no idea what to expect. Any information would be great. thank you
  18. I usually fish for green on the potomac but nice smallies can be caught consistanly. try throwing jerkbaits like lucky craft pointers on weededges. and try tubes around rock points and breaks.
  19. I fish alot of rivers. and almost all have wingdams. Smallmouths do live on both sides of em. Above the dam is shallower and normally hold smaller fish. I usually dont fish above unless there is alot of current creating backcurrent. if this occurs try throwing small wide wobble cranks. Below are always varible. On larger river that have boat traffic, then the wingdam are larger and the bottomside is much deeper. The bigger the dam the more slack water there is. Bigger smallmouth usually stage in this slack water. Even though i believe the larger wingdams hold higher quality fish, you will probably be fishing smaller ones cuz they are easier to find. so try throwing grubs, tubes and texas rig soft plastics. And if you do fish larger ones, knock em out on flukes and cranks. No matter wingdams hold fish
  20. i only really fish for river smallies so idk bout lakes but i dont judge lures based on their action just on there ablity to catch fish, n the live pointer catches more and bigger fish for me than the original pointer. i retrieve it with alot of twitches and pauses
  21. im also a huge of the lucky craft pointer. i like the live pointer. try fishing it around deep banks with rock. the colder the water the slower the retrieve, warmer vise versia.
  22. im not big into spinnerbaits at all but this one does produce for me in small rivers in the PA WV and MD region
  23. how big is the lake and how deep is it. smallmouth dont reproduce quickly at all and the bigger the lake is the lower the chance they will be dominantant anytime soon
  24. Dont overlook buzzbaits either. they produce for me in early summer. i like white the best
