  1. yea i guess your right but wow i really like them they might be a possible future go 2 bait
  2. i finally got time to do serious fishing this week. On sunday i went to a local lake with a good bit of weed cover and alot of rock. Well i put on the basstrix for the first time and casted it just beside some bolders on a weededge. Nothing i switched rigs and used it on a light carolina rig i was fishing it about 3 feet off the bottom and every cast i was pulling in a hawg i caught 8 i think on it just wanted everyone to know about the smallmouth that actually bite the 5inch basstrix
  3. For deeper water i switch from swimbaits to crankbaits, there is less sunlight in deeper water so bass cannot see as well. i like DT22 Rapala in bluegill color for deep water also with less visiblity in deep water a crankbait puts out more vibration than a swimbait so a bass can get in easier
  4. o really thats awesome, i fish it in tatesville alot, bedford, hopewell and once and a while i will make it down to saxton to fish it too. yea i was planning on going there this past saturday had me go down to MD and fish Deep Creek Lake caught a few nothing special
  5. o ok yea im off today so if it stops raining i might go up but tomorrow im going to take my buddy to raystown branch if it isnt too high if it is i dont know we might go over to lake somerset or deep creek lake not sure i will let him decide
  6. the only time when i use weightless sinking worms/minnows is when im fishing laydowns or shallow vegation and let teh worm sink into pockets of teh grass i use soft jerkbaits alot but only 0-3 feet under the surface
  7. I have just seen the money minnow in this months bassmaster's magazine and looks fairly productive. just wanted to let you know about the new product and was wondering if anyone used it yet and is worth buying
  8. yea i consider catching one on the first cast bad luck but if you are having trouble just switch up hooksets if you are setting hard try just loading up on the fish also when fighting the fish let it fight but dont have any slack in the line. and if you get the fish on top of teh water, the largemouth' mouth will open and fill with water keeping it from fighting so if you get it on top just keep reeling in
  9. i caught a few this year on the 4inch basstrix
  10. nockamixon dam up in bucks county is a fun lake to fish havent fished it in years though
  11. i had the same problem but it took me a long time to find the real answer to it and im still not sure if it is right well ive heard that the fish are short striking the shakyhead so instead of switching hook size, switch worm colors so the bass will hit them harder and take them better
  12. yea early stages of spawn in all the eastern lakes great fishing right now
  13. on any light wire hook keep your rod tip high at all times!!! i like to cast them out let them sit then jerk it so it looks like a snake coming across the water pretty fast to get the fish' attention then pause then ilike to put a few really little jerks on the fish so it just twitches on the surface. Usually this is when i will have the bite if the fish is really active i would repeat but if not i would just put a few twitches on it then pause my favorite floating worm is the strike king 3x finesse worm
  14. i dont use them but they should work
  15. nice have you been up to the queenahoming dam yet? im thinking if it is nice this evening i might go for a few hours i just got back from the susqhenna and caught 14 on saturday all of them pretty nice biggest was like 4 pounds 9 smallmouth and 5 largemouth
  16. i like using smaller finess worms like zoom finesse worms, but if i think there is a big one in the small patch i throw a jig or rat-l trap next to it when the fish is really sluggish a wacky rig worm will work
  17. my favorite worms would have to be bereky powerworms but from that list i choose zoom i like all the zoom products including there worms
  18. lol yea maybe that will work im trying to plan a trip down there in August sometime
  19. yea i read your story i had no idea that there were smallies that big in that creek wow yea i have work but its only a half day, but sorry i cant fish i have to meet up with my neighbor and get ready to go over to the sus this upcoming weekend im really busy til july so if you want to go sometime then let me know so where are u planning on going? for sure?
  20. yea i normally get down there about twice a year and usally i have a blast catching them but man i dont know what happened this past weekend o well hopefully i can get another chance to go back down there
  21. i would go with a natural minnow color, shad or blueback herring color depending on whats in your favorite water
  22. congrads on the new PB smallie sounds like fun
  23. i like the gama hooks alot but i really dont think using one over the other here is going to affect hookup ratio alot
  24. smallieking replied to Upson's topic in Fishing Tackle
