I'm sorry if you dont like that site but my post was directed to the OP. Every site has BS but there is some useful info on there with some helpful members. I was not dis-crediting Bass Resource or it members; this site is great. I was only offering a fellow member other options to help with current/future issues. Actually I misunderstood. There;'s an article about supertuning a Daiwa Sol, littered with bad advice, that's all. I think I said I love the TT site further above, LOL. You guys are WAYYYY too defensive - its a fishing site!

1. A. Round or teardrop don't hang up as much. Algae doesn't make any difference, the fish isn't biting the weight - sort of the point behind the rig, keeps the bait out of the snot. Pencil baits will sometimes give off a false bite. First the tick of the weight landing, then the tick of it falling over. Pencil weights excel in current though, and sweeping a drop shot rig through a run is deadly. B. Many will say lightest possible. I start at 3/8, and often go to 1/2 or more. If you're drifting, whatever keeps the bait down. If you are vertical, what ever keeps the bow out of the line. If you casting to objects, whatever holds the bait in place. 2. Cover dictates, though in some cases the little Owner downshot t-rig hooks hold the bait better....Kutail worms, anyone? :-X 3. Heavier weight, longer drop line. Less is more, unless the fish are really active, then shake the heck out of them. If you have heavy cover, consider a bubba shot rig: Flipping stick, 50# braid, big bait....toss in pads. Just think of the rig as a possible solution. There's no one right way to fish it, and it has a lot of uses.

The only time I'd use a swivel is with a fluke or a split shot rig.

Is it typical for baitcasters to lose that much drag power after break-in or is this something specific to the Revos? I never tested a Revo straight out of the box, but I suspect many don't even start out that powerful. Most other brands actually gain some max power, but then get sticky, or chatter. Smooth Drags Carbontex replacement washers resolve the issue almost every time.

Sorry David, that's not right. "X" lbs. of drag is "X" lbs. of drag, on a straight pull, or loaded on the rod. Don't believe me? Measure it both ways. It will be the same. The way the drag performs may be a completely different story, however. In fact I'd wager that 90% of most bass rods would snap under 24 lbs. of load.

They tested ONE reel. Every single Revo that graces my hands gets the test. NONE has ever come close to 24#, LOL. I love the TT articles as well, but it isn't gospel either.

Just bring the bait to the store, and match them up by eye. After a while, you just know what each size is by looking.
