  1. Agreed! These are the folks I dealt with. Super work. http://greatlakesmarineworks.com/
  2. By a "body shop" as in car body shop? I've had fiberglass repairs done, but only by a boat repair shop that specializes in it.
  3. No, I'd peel off 20 yards or so. Typically this is not an issue with light lines like 6# since they break off quickly at the knot. With heavier lines, I'm likely to use a lure knocker, or go over and get as close to snag before trying to break off.
  4. It comes up more than you'd think. Fishing in a kayak, I only bring 4-6 rods, and sometimes the wrong line for what I want to do is rigged, so I switch reels. This tool will come in handy for that.
  5. Initially, yes, but if you consider I have left both Tatsu and Invisx spooled on a reel, and in heavy use for up to four seasons, it's far less than regular nylon mono.
  6. I've learned quite a bit from your posts.
  7. Their target market is anyone that thinks making the process faster and easier is worth $30. If it's not worth it to, don't buy it. It isn't junk or a gimmick, so throwing shade isn't necessary.
  8. That it's so easy to use makes seem like the target market is a little bigger. If you enjoy toiling with threading guides on a rocking boat, then have at it. I'll be fishing long before you even start tying a lure on.
  9. Texas rigged ribbon tail worms were one the first plastics I learned, besides a grub on a ball head. Nice guy in a bass boat gave me some hooks, bullet weights, and a bag of worms and showed me how to rig them when I asked how he got his bait through the weeds. I was probably around 12. T-rigging opened up a whole new world of fishing.
  10. Keep your big toe to yourself!
  11. I have more than 20 Avids. If someone thinks they're unbalanced, they're holding the rod wrong, lol. The only difference is better guides and full cork grip. Sensitivity is the same. Both lines use the same blanks.
  12. Yes, I can cast and land a fish.
  13. I have the Fuji tool, and I'm considering getting this. There are occasions where my tremors (shaky hands) make even the Fuji tool a pain to use. This looks way simpler.
  14. I still don't understand those goofy things. I'll take my Hobie over it, though.
  15. Somebody does. I don't have a budget for it either, and I don't have a budget for a brand new gas powered boat, but the prices are coming down on all electric. I find the technology fascinating. Not sure what all the negativity is about.
  16. What he's asking is if anyone else is using all electric. I was pointing out there were others. And they going a lot faster than walking speeds.
  17. Fourscore and nine years ago.... Anyway, live bait is only cheating if you're competing, it's against the rules. Otherwise, knock yourself out, so long as you're following rules from DNR.
  18. A gas powered Merc 75 weighs 150 lbs. MORE, and offers less power. Your weight arguments are a little silly. Obviously, this is meant for a larger vessel. The point is that there are electrics out there that far more powerful and offer more than putting around at 2-3 mph. Also, Torqeedo has smaller motors. There's some impressive footage on YouTube of what their 4 hp equivalent motor can do. That would be awesome. My girlfriend works at an RD lithium battery start up. The batts are getting MUCH safer, and prices will come down, eventually.
  19. Get one of these, if you can afford it: https://www.torqeedo.com/us/en-us/products/outboards/deep-blue/deep-blue-80-r/M-3201-00.html
  20. Some greases get thicker in the cold, and sometimes water gets in there and freezes.
  21. I find that it does. In freezing temps, they can get stuck, if they're not a sealed drag. All my sub freezing set ups use a dry Carbontex set up. This ensures the drags operate smoothly, regardless of temps.
  22. I love doing scanning trips, even in the kayak. It's the only way to find the spot on the spot. Even after I've thoroughly fished a spot, I'll do a complete scan to try and figure out why it held fish. For OP, pretty much every company is offering great features. Lowrance always seems a little on the high end, price per feature. My advice is to go play with them in person, and see which menus and user experience works best for you.
  23. That's what I thought, too.
