Tried a drop shot for the first time
It has nothing to do with water clarity. If fish are deep, and you want to keep the bait suspended off the bottom, and in place, then this is the rig. No other terminal rig can achieve these attributes. I mean, no one says, "This water is too dirty for a senko." You can fish any plastic, big or small, in any color, on any hook style, with any strength line. Adjust the terminal gear for the cover, depth, and plastic you're using.

Rage Tail Anaconda
7" has been the standard for ribbon tail worms for decades. It's really only a 4-5" worm, with a sickle tail. The Anacondas are unusual in that the tail is MUCH longer, but with much more action. Try them in either size, with at least a 1/4 oz. weight, and you'll see what I mean.

Rage Tail Anaconda
It's a 7" worm, same length as most other worms. I actually like 10" size better.

Texas rigging technique questions
You have WAY too much bait threaded onto that hook. You only need enough to get to the first bend, or about 1/4". Agree with others, it could be sunnies.

Curado DC............Catastrophe?
That's what I'm thinking. Please send me the link to the the posts. When I search for the statements you quoted, Google only returns this thread.

- Curado DC............Catastrophe?
I don't think it was broken at all. Has anyone confirmed anything with Shimano. I'd call support, but I don't have anything but second hand information.- Have you ever snapped a lure off with braid?
I've done it a few times. Seems like I'm always on shore when it happens.- Curado DC............Catastrophe?
This sounds weird to me. There aren't "brakes" on a DC reel that can be installed - correctly or not. Flipping doesn't involve the reel at all. Pitching doesn't generate enough inertia to get the DC going. Side arm barely gets it going. I've used DC reels, and this has been my experience. I've serviced DC reels, and know that other than the sensor window being gunked up (an issue they seem to have resolved) there's nothing to service. What store was this? I think the owner isn't telling the truth. If there was an issue with DC braking, they would have to go back to the factory. There's nothing anyone can do to service the braking system in the field. I also think you need to actually make a normal force cast to realize the full benefits of DC.- Kayaking - Lake Hours of Operation (NYS)
No. You need to have light emitting 360°. Scotty, Yakattack, and others make suitable lights for this. I use a Yakattack VisiCarbon light. Most lakes have no hours. Launches may close, however. The hours would be clearly posted.- USCG max cap, am I reading this right?
No, it's for persons, motor, and gear.- Kudo's to Garmin!
Thanks for following up!- What’s your favorite rod and spinning reel?
SC Avid AVS62MLXF, OG CI4 2500, 6# Tatsu:- Curado K 200K versus 201K difference?
200 is right, 201 is left.- If you could only have one baitcasting rod...
Yep. This would cover 90% of bass fishing. It's when you get into finesse, cranking, and punching that it starts to get specific.- almost killed by idiot in a cabin cruiser
So, get the reg numbers and report him.- Fallen timber.......
Hanging pegged T-rigs in trees really is a problem in the way you fish them. You have to be slow, use a sensitive rod, and gently feel your way through the limbs. Do not yank, pop, sweep, etc. That's a recipe for a hang up.- What makes a lake “a hard lake to fish”?
There's a couple lakes that are crystal clear, and very steep. You can be 20' off the shoreline and in 40' water. Weeds grow to around 30' deep and might be 10-15' tall. If you can locate creek channels in some of the rare flats areas, just ply it with jigs, and you'll grind it out. The other pattern here is wood laydowns. Blast them with jigs, T-rigs, or even spinnerbaits for a few bites. Don't bother fishing between 10 AM and 7 PM. Bass are almost dormant during those hours. Troll deep for lakers to pass the time.- Best TopWater Baits for SMB
Really, most anything that isn't too big, and even then they hit big baits, too. I like a Sammy 100 or Popmax.- 43 replies

Changing line won't fix the issue. It's reel setup and technique related.- Confirm Rod's Best Applications/Line?
I haven't tried the Topwater/Jerkbait rod referenced, but I have BOTH their cranking rods. They are indeed very light, and very sensitive, despite the mod/mod-fast rated taper. The medium is a little more powerful than my SC Avid AVC70MM and the medium heavy is on par with my SC Avid AVC70MHM. The two rods have replaced my Avids for most cranking duty, with the exception of peanut size cranks, which my AVC70MM excels at.- Largemouth vs. Smallmouth
I’ve caught a few wipers in VA, and they do whack a bait hard. Reminds of the big brown trout up here.- Am I over trimming my boat
The dude in the first video is already chine walking when he attempts to jump the wake. Really poor driving, and he had plenty of time to react to the wake. No, he was hot dogging it. - Curado DC............Catastrophe?
