  1. And do what with that info? I mean, when communicating water clarity, this *could* be helpful, It's also one of the several measurements we captured when doing environmental studies in college, but what part of knowing that measurement can we apply to fishing? At best it's acedemic, at worst it's just a time waster. The water is dirty or clear, or somewhere in between. I am probably one the best known "measurebaters" on this forum, and inclined to take detail oriented things way too far, but I can't see the practical application here.
  2. 1. Yes. 2. Sometimes.
  3. You aren't being censored, unless the name is one that the company asked us to remove from the forums, or was a habitual spammer.
  4. Or, you could just grab a package of frozen tilapia when your at the walmartz, and let the fish you catch go, lol. Seems less expensive. I prefer to be at the top, but if you want to be part of the food chain, go swimming in shark infested waters! (Kidding!) A cooler is probably the easiest, though that can be a sail in wind. Some type of fish bag is probably the best answer. As far as where to whack a fish on the head to kill them, you'll know when you get it right. They stop moving.
  5. I use snaps and/or swivels, but NEVER snap-swivels.
  6. You have two completely different topics here: electric motor, rudder. Many electric motors use the rudder system to steer. A rudder helps position a boat when fishing, especially in a breeze or current. I find some boats that do not track well, a rudder is necessary. Other boats with hulls that track don't need one. In most cases, you have to establish the need. Many times "bad tracking" is just bad paddling technique, and the money spent on a rudder should have been spent on a paddling class. As far as putting motors on kayaks, I don't really care, fishing is fishing and I don't have any preconcieved notion of what a "proper fishing boat" should or should not have. I do know that many states require that you register a boat with any kind of powered propulsion, so be aware that there may be some legal hurdles.
  7. Water Clarity alomost never enters the equation for whether to throw a plastic or not. I suggest you get away from this awfully limiting idea that plastics are just for clear water - that's total nonsense! Toss a RageTail Craw or Lobster aty your favorite spot, and see what happens.
  8. I use neither, and prefer CXX over any P-Line product (or most other lines, for that matter). If I want fluoro, I use InvisX or Tatsu. Fluoroclear is not a line I trust to hold up to anything.
  9. My own personal opinion is that inclusion - paying or otherwise - generates traffic. Traffic = revenue to sponsors. Sponsors = BassReource staying on the air. Got a product you love? Tell us about it! That said, when a business or individual takes advantage of this open forum format, and posts excessively, or uses some form of subterfuge to make it seem as though it's a person just posting his/her likes, then I draw the line. And by "line" I mean complete blockage from ever being mentioned. There's enough dishonesty in fishing without perpetuating it for profit. I think that a forum for "sales and good deals" would eventually degrade to that state. Fortunately, we have a GREAT list of sponsors here, that not only keep us on the air, they offer products I would like to use, or already use. Want a deal? Ask one of our sponsors. Many of them offer special deals to members. It's just one of the many benefits.
  10. Perfect for fishing jigs and the like in close quaters and heavy cover. Big fish in heavy cover with a short leash = short, heavy rod.
  11. Grits are no good cold.
  12. Carbontex and a good cleaning for every reel I own. A couple get Hawgtech handles. Anything else is icing.
  13. Definitely don't need pontoons for a Ride115. Yes, they make a casting bar.
  14. This thread is about the TCS-C-691MH casting rod.
  15. That's the kind of Internet rumbling that inspires me to write these reviews. One guy says something, and that gets repeated ad nauseum until it becomes perceived reality. It's exactly why I beat the crap out of the stuff companies send me. You know what happens when something doesn't make the cut? I send it back to the company with a list of the problems, and I never utter their name on the Internet again. I sent two reels back last week. I'm not telling you what they were. Look for the positive, from those that put the gear to the test, and speak from honesty. Reiterated someone else's complaint doesn't really add anythibg, and only hurts your cred. Just my opinion.
  16. So, do you place more value in what a company sales rep says than what another fisherman that had used the gear? Anyway, I have to take a few photos, and the review will be up in a few days.
  17. Radio Shack filed chapter 11 on 2/5. Over 1700 stores closed. just an FYI.
  18. The objection I have with that is the same as any other price if unnecessary cordage: it's a hazard.
  19. Hard to color coordinate all your outfits with just two colors!
  20. Heard reports from my former club that Silver was on fire.
  21. Weird that it works fine for literally over 100, many of them smallmouth with what many here call stretchy CXX. Might need to work on your hooksets. Did you try any with line other than braid?
  22. You don't need braid. Total nonsense purported by someone that hasn't used the rod. I'm literally at nearly 100 fish on chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, squarebills, traps, and now most recently poppers. I dig that it ISN'T overly specialized. Great for kayak trips, and for keeping in the truck for you never know what. I also have the Mat Daddy. Both are fully reviewed in the article section.
  23. What is their policy on covering self inflicted damages?
  24. I think it's a medium. I'd have to double check.
