  1. I use a MF or MHF field the most part. Depends on the weight of the bait. A 4" paddle tail on a 1/4 oz head throws well on a LTBC70MF. Any heavier, and I go up to the the Sweeper MH version of that rod.
  2. There's very few situations where I just have to have a tungsten jig. Otherwise, lead from Siebert generally works fine for me.
  3. Good skill. You can use righty reels for pitching. I have to pitch with my right. I've unlearned just about everything but that. Can't do it any other way.
  4. Sorry, if I offended you. That's not my intention. I've serviced reels from all over the country, inluding Florida and several other southern states. In fact a huge pile came from Texas. Had a buinch of inshore kayak anglers that used Stardics almost exclusively, since they held up to the salt, and weren't insanely expensive. I don't know why your reels are getting soft, and wearing out differently. It's weird. Perhaps Mike at DVT can comment.
  5. If you are wearing out your Shimano reels, you may want to take a second look at your maintenance methods. The shaft is supported by both the AR roller, a large ball bearing, and nylon bush. That bush is often lost when cleaning. That may be your problem.
  6. Just remember, you weren't born knowing how to load and unload. Some just need teaching, not bullying. Others need a little patience. Heaven forbid something goes wrong while they're launching - but then they have all the answers too.
  7. I can tell whether a reel is right without decimal points or three-letter-acronyms. I do it by feel. I think the best feeling reel was a Daiwa Sol, so now I have a few more and some Alphas (JDM version). I think that the IPT is about 23, from the 5.8:1 ratio.
  8. Stupid drum monkey strikes again..... at least it's a Gretsch, lol.
  9. No, I get that. No toes crushed. At WOT, I can burn through a tank in less than an hour in my boat. Big difference in gas consumption, but not a huge difference in speed. WOT = ~78, where as most of my cruising around is about 45-55. Speed limit on the Bay's here is 25, BTW.
  10. My point was more about running WOT, not hull design and weight, which is also true. You want to run and gun full throttle, you're going to pay irrespective of hull weight.

This is a custom jig by Siebert.

Weight has nothing to do with profile. Skirt and trailer do. The two jigs mentioned above are two of the best I've found.
  13. Shimano spinning reel grease? You mean Permalub?
  14. Never seen a Shimano wear out there, nor have any of mine, including an original Aero Stradic. Please don't tell me I don't fish enough, like the last thread. It's insulting. My guess, the bail was smacked on something, and now it's off balance and wobbles.
  15. My 99 Pro Max actually isn't too bad on gas, so long as I dont run WOT every day, all day. No actual numbers, but a 25 gal. Tank will last me a month of weekends on most lakes.
  16. Wait, deer eat fish?
  17. Don't know if they'll produce a world record, but they certainly churn out some big ones.
  18. The heart is legit, the snap swivel and rusty hook is not.
  19. So far for me, nothing I've tied beats an Alberto.
  20. Almost as mind numbing as the comments under a YouTube video. Back to fishing…spring is nearly here!
  21. Was talking about Florida largemouth, Catt.
  22. Yep.id prefer any bait I'd troll to float. That way on the pause they rise.
  23. No, they stocked the wrong species at first.
