  1. I do not like any tube hook or rigging that puts the weight inside the bait, unless it's at the head of the jig.
  2. OK guys, remember: let's not get personal here. I'm with Sam - a hand washer and paper towel door holder. I also use the but gaskets when available.
  3. That looks nice and clean with the Hawgtech handle!
  4. I like these baits, too.
  5. CONGRATS CHUCK!!!!!!!!!
  6. Definitely CALL them. Email is never a good channel for dealing with customer service. Just sit on the line until they give you what you want or escalate to a manager.
  7. Every cast I make, unless it's a pitch cast, is two handed. Much less energy is expended this way.
  8. That's pretty slick 1st ride! Congrats.
  9. Fan or not, he broke Minnesota law, not tournament rules. Had he been caught by authorities, I bet the outcome might be even worse. I don't agree with any of the laws, the decision to fish there, and though I'm not a Palaniuk fan, I certainly feel he got a raw deal. The fact that it's $100K on the line is EXACTLY why he was reported.
  10. Guys, Wayne is spilling the beans here....pay attention!
  11. There's always a bit of truthiness to my posts.
  12. The problem is that he broke a law, which is different than breaking a rule. If it was just a rule violation, then he would probably have not had that weight voided for the day. He's lucky he wasn't DQ'd for the whole event (or was he?). In my club, you get a ticket, you're done for the whole event, whether it's a one day, or three day event.
  13. No, they only work in CA, PA, and NY waters, lol. I say have at it! Stay dedicated....look at Speed's results.
  14. Quite possibly the key element to success with big baits.
  15. Insulin, out of pocket is $380 per vial. Through insurance, it's about $13 per vial. Do the math.
  16. This is my Hudd of choice, here in NY. I use a custom rod built off the same blank as the Saint Croix LTBC79HF "Swimbait" rod, with a Calcutta and 20# CXX.
  17. Bass palm > bass thumb. You could always invest in a Fish Grip - they come in handy for toothy critters a well. http://www.thefishgrip.net/
  18. I'd take a serious and honest look at how you're handling them. Mojo series are pretty heavy, thick walled blanks. I can't see anyone breaking that many, without some sort of mitigating circumstance. Heck, I've got over 20 Avids, Premeirs, and LTBs, and haven't broken a single one, and I'm notoriously rough on gear.
  19. These types of apps are a dime a dozen. There have been a few threads detailing some of the better ones. Navionics, for example is one MANY of are already using. As for the site, the mobile skin works like a champ, and in many ways, I prefer it to traditional web browsing.
  20. Drop shot, wacky jig, mojo/split shots, tiny grubs, 4" senkos, flukes, sluggos, tiny poppers like the Zell Pop.
  21. I remember when the new 5:1 "high speed" Daiwas came out in the early 90s. We had no issues with picking up slack then. To me, it's just a silly horsepower war. It's going to reach the point of diminishing returns - you're going to actually give the fish slack to be able to generate enough torque to actually reel in the fish. Again, some specs are more about fishing than catching. Look up my rants about so called "frog rods," lol. I actually can't wait to tear one apart. I'd like to see those gears up close and personal.
  22. Yes, but someone point me toward ANY research that clearly shows that fishing lead contributes to the decline in population of loons. Show me a study where the ban of fishing lead has led to a decline in loon mortality. It doesn't exist. Why? Because the laws are passed using emotions triggered by graphic images of a few loons that died due to lead poisoning. What's even funnier - they couldn't prove the lead was from fishing lures.
  23. What many don't realize, is any "assembly" here, is usually done by robots. They offshore the expensive assembly to cheaper countries. Automakers use offshore factories to do the drive trains - the expensive parts - and robots here to do final assembly. That whole "60% built in the USA, and 40% made in China" you see on the sticker is a little misleading. If you can find a company that employs many US citizens, treats them right, and has a good product and support, STICK WITH THEM!!!
