Daiwa Sol On Its Way, Which Rod?
Their MM is whippy, and rightly so. There is quite a bit of power in that taper, but it's much closer to the butt. The MF, and MXF tapers are true to their descriptions, but they both flex as much as any of the M power rods, under casting and fish fighting conditions. The MH tapers take a bit of lure weight to load up. With light baits on those rods, it's more like "throwing" the bait with your arms than it is "sling shotting" them with a loaded rod. That's the best I can describe it.

Is A Split Grip Worth An Extra $40 To $50?
I think it's the other way around, cork is expensive.
-
Favorite Popper?
I got a little TD Popper, as an "extra" in a pack of baits I bought from Deep that caught them well on Oneida last fall.

Daiwa Sol On Its Way, Which Rod?
I would NOT try to throw lighter baits on a Saint Croix MH rod. Medium to medium-light would show you that reel's true potential. There's a LTBC70MF and a LTB610MLXF in the LT line that would batch that reel well. In the Avid series, look at AVC69MLXF and AVC70MF.

Swim Jig Vs. Regular Jig
You can swim any jig. A swim jig has a few design features that make it easier to swim, usually a pointed or wedge shaped head, straight, or near straight line tie, and a thinner, more colorful skirt. Anything else is up to your imagination regarding skirts.

Cork Cleaning...(It's Been Discussed But I Also Have Adhd)
Alcohol wipes are a good thing to have in the boat anyway, with all the little pokes and scratches you get in a day of fishing. It's good to have something to clean a wound with.

Looks like there's nothing to add here, since it's degraded to insults.

Revo Mgx Extreme- 4.9Oz $499
I don't know about the Revo, but I have a few Shimano CI4, as well as a few Daiwa Ziaon reels, and they are nothing like the old, graphite framed reels. They are as durable as any other reel.

What Would You Use This Rod For?
That's a perfect treble hook bait rod. Traps, small hard swimbaits, divers, square bills, would all work well.

Crankbait Starter Kit
Spro carries good baits in every category listed, and strikes a nice balance between quality and value. I'm especially fond of the Aruku Shads. I have a few of the deep divers, and they're pretty good too.

Revo Mgx Extreme- 4.9Oz $499
Seems pretty aggressively priced to me. It's aimed squarely at the Daiwa Steez crowd, for a $100 less.

Revo Mgx Extreme- 4.9Oz $499
Probably not, Revos aren't my cup of tea, and I would never spend that much on a reel. $300 is about my cutoff.

Looks like a Revo wearing a Zillion tuxedo! Sub 5 oz. is impressive.

4 X 4 Necessary For Bass Boat?
You don't need all that to fish Erie. A 16-17' deep-V tiller, and a 50-60 hp motor. I fished Lake Ontario for years with this setup, in some pretty nasty stuff. Never worried about getting back safe. Here's my dad, in the old Sea Nymph, note the horizon line, heh:
