  1. The only trailer I use is a hook.
  2. Red is deadly all season on Oneida.
  3. Blocked by the proxy server filters, deemed "suspicious." So, according to my employer, not so much, lol.
  4. Fish Dope is petroleum jelly based...not really the best stuff. Megastrike is about the best thing I've used for getting fish to hold a bait longer since I tried Powerworms back in the early 90s.
  5. Hair jigs.
  6. First, start with a jig that was built properly in the first place. http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/ makes a brush jig with the perfect guard, no need to trim. Just work it in a bit by flexing the fibers. As SB said, smear it up with Megastrike. When you trim the guard, you do two things: first, it makes it stiffer. Second, you make it easier for the fish to shake the bait free. The guard often helps keep the fish buttoned, especially when it's hooked through the lip.
  7. 6# InvisX works well for me. Here's a nice fish I caught from nearly 40 FOW:
  8. I got a Bob's Hydrofoil on my Sporty. Hops on plane at about 16-17 mph and in like two seconds. Not bad for a 21' boat.
  9. It only takes one bad seed.
  10. Owner Stinger ST-31 or VMC Inlines on most cranks
  11. I've seen other sites with "chat box" features. They always erupt into arguments. Too much to moderate. The PM feature here works pretty well.
  12. It would really depend on the water we were fishing. If it's Erie, I might have four spinning rods set up for drop shot, and one cranking/spooning rig. On a lake like Oneida, I'd have a frog rod, a couple of jig/worm rods, a wacky rod, and a shaky head setup. Your best bet is a few MH/F sticks, a M/F spinner, and a cranker. That would cover most bases.
  13. Personally, do what you can do well. Work your butt off, and get the degree. Show your employers you can learn, and work your butt off for them. My background is in fisheries management, guess what I do? I'm an IT consultant, basically a Business Systems Architect. Go figure, been doing it for 13 years now, and actually love my job.
  14. Caught this one on 14# Fireline Fused:
  15. Just put a heavy weight, ~1/2 oz or so, and pitch it under just like you would a jig.
  16. 6# Invisx or 20# braid.
  17. It's really good under docks.
  18. 6" Spro Trout has accounted for a few smallies up here...
  19. Got to have lemon with your Earl Gray.
  20. Try boiling some water, and dipping the tail, briefly, to correct a bent bait.
  21. Bought my son a set of universal sockets and box wrenches for Christmas. Looking forward to "borrowing" them on my next project.
