  1. Here are a couple videos that are pretty useful: How to rig a Texas rig How to tie a reverse clinch knot How to tie a palomar, clinch and double uni knot Here are some great tackle and lure suppliers Tackle Warehouse http://www.***.com/ *** http://www.*.com/index.php Hope this helps!
  2. sometimes i t-rig a beast weightless and use it as a top water bait. u really can fish these things anywhere in the water column!
  3. i use gamakatsu ewg 3/0 for 4" tubes. i also usually hide the hook eye in the tube for added weed protection but its not necessary. hope this helps!
  4. hold ur reel sideways. makes things way easier!
  5. Check out the Abu Garcia REVO lineup. They're smooth as any other reel i've used and have a wicked strong drag which is pretty important when horsing fish out of heavy cover. Just about any of the mid-high end reels from Shimano or Daiwa should suit u as well.

buy a revo, get some wiley x's for free walmart has some really cheap polarized glasses made by renegade that work ok.
  7. The Big Bite website says that they are made for flippin and pitchin and yes they do look awesome!
  8. Another good video to pick up is Kevin Van Dam's Pitchin' to Heavy Hitters. He goes through pitchin' and flippin' basics plus gives some good examples of lures to use and advice on picking apart cover. Pitchin' is probably my favorite way to fish but it also gave me fits trying to learn it. I tried and tried with no success then one day it just clicked and I've been a pitchin' fool ever since! Patience is key!
  9. thanks guys. i'll probably go with the avid. my next question would be are these the specs i'm looking for? i know generally speaking shorter is better for casting accuracy that's why i chose 6'. is med/fast enough or should i look at the 6'3" med/xtra-fast?
  10. I'm looking at getting a G. Loomis GL2 6' Med/Fast (SJR722) for skipping baits, mainly wacky rigged senkos. I'll be able to get this rod for about $85 plus shipping with a $50 gift card and a $20 off a $150 purchase coupon from Cabelas. Is this what I'm looking for? Thanks!
  11. Advantages & Applications: -Small diameter and high break strength -Virtually zero stretch and line memory -Flipping/pitching into heavy vegetaition -Skipping under docks with sharp edges -Main line for a Carolina rig Disadvantages -Can rip most treble hook baits out of the fish's mouth -Rocks chew it up pretty quickly -Higher visibility in the water (Can be "remedied" with a flouro leader) Thats all i can think of right now. I'm sure other will add some.

I'm not sure what else Skeet was throwing but Ike was pitchin' black/red flake tubes texas rigged.
  13. i really like my 6'6" cherrywood. i've caught quite a few bass and some walleye on it with no problems. maybe u got a factory defect? a couple of my buddies that walleye fish exclusively use these and love them!
  14. try to get ahold of micro. i know he's using daiwas alot now but he is definitely a revo authority.
  15. Some say red line is a gimmick others swear by it. I've caught fish on red line, green line, clear line and bright yellow line. I think it all depends on the fishes mood that day.
  16. You never gave a price range but BPS Extremes are on sale for $70 or BPS Bionic Blades are on sale for $50. If Your wanting cheaper than that check out Berkleys Lightning Rod ($40) or Cherrywood ($25 ) These are all Bass Pro Shops prices. You might find them cheaper on eBay. Also Wal-Mart carries Berkley rods.
  17. I made a jump in equipment quality. Increased tackle quantity and quality. Learned to pitch and flip. I'm getting better at picking lure colors for different conditions. And last but not least I outfished my cousin/fishing teacher for the first time.
  18. I got a bad batch from wally world... They swim really good! ;D ;D ;D
  19. now for a question of ethics. would you let people know that you caught it on a $1 walmart spinnerbait and a berkley lightning rod, or would you pose it with that lucky craft crankbait you got as a christmas present and the loomis rod belonging to your boat partner? i'm guessing most would rather have a sponsorship with loomis than with berkley...
  20. looks awesome! any idea on a ship date yet?
  21. venom tubes work pretty well for me and *** disc tubes have great skirt action but brents out of stock. definitely order some when he gets them back in (wink, wink, nudge, nudge ;D)
  22. anyone using the tubes or creature tubes? they look cool but do they work? the jigs look pretty sweet and the "hidden" eye is a pretty smart idea IMO. It seems someones actually trying to do something to stand out in an industry thats alreaady full of innovative ideas.
  23. sounds like amazing potential! get him to start talking and he might take the fishing world by storm!
