  1. No never fished Vermilion. Closest I have gotten is Rainy Lake on the Canadian side. I caught my first 50" plus from Lake St Clair back in the late 70's. She was a November fish that went 34lbs. I only have a few Polaroid black & white photos of her. I have been in Musky Jakes a bar/restaurant up on the St Lawrence that has Ken Obrien's monster mount hanging on the wall. That is a beast.
  2. My condolences to you both. Dealing with the death of a parent is tough enough without the additional burdens caused by the virus.
  3. I have chased pike hard for a lot of years. From Alberta to Saskatchewan to Manitoba to Ontario to the Northwest Territories. From Great Bear to Great slave to Athabasca to Munroe lake to Scott lake to Georgian Bay. Loved every minute of it. Also chased musky for a few years from Ohio & New York to Georgian Bay & Lake St Clair. Long live the Esox.
  4. Hey buddy I can remember when you only fished the bay & wanted to catch some six pounders. You sure learned fast how to get it done. Congrats on the achievement & the beautiful mount. Lake Erie display at its finest.
  5. The OP guessed the length of a fish he weighed but didn't measure. I provided the table of average lengths equaling weights to confirm his guess. I made up the table of length to weight conversion based on my own extensive experience catching walleye for the last forty some years in Ontario, Quebec & Lake Erie waters. Like you said prespawn fish will differ substantially from post spawn fish in girth & weight. Also any conversion table based on length only will only provide an estimate of weight. My longest walleye ever caught measured 33.5 " long but only weighed 12.25 lbs. I have caught a 29" walleye that also broke 12 lbs. On average the above walleye conversion table is fairly accurate based on all the fish I have measured & weighed.
  6. Sometimes the simple pleasures are the best. Keep inspiring us.
  7. Nothing wrong with a new pb Spot. Congrats.
  8. Yellow magic gets my vote.
  9. Congrats on your PB. Your fluke & FB jig obviously works.
  10. Keep on keeping on.
  11. Your other choice is simply use a snap like the owner welded quick snap. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Owner_Hyper_Welded_Quick_Snaps_6pk/descpage-OHQS.html
  12. 25" =s 5 lbs 26 =s 6 lbs 27" walleye is usually 7lbs 28" =s 8 lbs 29" =s 9 lbs 30" =s 10 lbs
  13. They are super sharp & very strong for the wire size. As far as the alm color I understand your concern but the flash color might be an attraction rather than a bad thing. I have gotten bit on them so far with no problem.
  14. I have been using the Owner ZoWire STX hooks for finesse applications.
  15. Caught on a white spinnerbait.
  16. Congrats.
  17. Keep it coming.
  18. I wonder why fishermen have such a problem differentiating between a striper & and a stripper or do they naturally default to a woman taking off her clothes?
  19. I know what your referring to regarding the 10lb standard & diving depth charts. I always considered that 10lb diameter off the self line differed from one chart to another but generally fell within .011 to .0134 range. I used the Precision Trolling book now available only as an app. Their 10lb standard was developed using Berkley XT line in 10lb class which measures at .0134 the largest dia 10lb line I know of. I found using a smaller dia 10lb mono got my baits about 1 to 2 feet deeper depending on how much line was out.
  20. No problem with frays. My only issues was the line seemed to coil excessively on the reel spool. I do not use line conditioner. The Advance has eliminated that issue and held up really well for a week in Mexico catching big bass. I have been using 14lb & 17lb only.
  21. I started using suffix advance last year replacing Defier Armilo and have really liked it for topwater & cranks & jerkbaits.
  22. You have got my thoughts & prayers.
  23. Some people just don't get it. It's a joke, spoof, tongue in cheek, sham to get you to disclose your favorite spots.
  24. Congrats on both the new PB & the scale acquisition.
