When young guys ask for advice or opinions most of us older guys give our advice. Some guys are looking for validation of their thoughts. But don't ask for advice and then make a blanket statement that you are going to do it your way anyhow. If that is your opinion why bother to ask others for theirs?

Have you ever seen a fish jump out of the water? Sometimes 3 or 4 feet out of the water. I understand your concern & agree with you about not mishandling fish but I think they can handle being tossed back into the water from a few feet.

Fluro doesn't have the shock strength of regular mono. When you get a backlash the pressure at the point of the backlash weakens the line because of the sudden snap. Heavier line would help solve the problem but not completely. You need to quit backlashing or change line to something with more stretch or inherent give.

I think they were called twitch baits before they were referred to as jerkbaits.

To the OP I do think it will be broken. Regarding the validity of the future catch it is up to the record keepers to verify it and that would be IGFA. They do not discriminate between genetic hybrids and natural fish or unnatural food sources. They do exercise a pretty rigorous protocol for the establishment of a new record.

I'm looking forward to it. I even purchased an extra memory card to hold all of A-Jay's trophy catch pictures.

Goose it might be a case of that was then and this is now. The brake collars of a few years back might be different from the current ones.

The core is smaller & palms slightly easier.
