  1. Matt is such a nice guy when I ordered my first hard gill from him he included a soft gill no charge. Win win for me.
  2. Funny thought. I went with a guide for about six trips out of New York State fishing for smallmouth on the Niagara river, lake O & Lake Erie. I never broke 5lbs but caught hundreds of smallies. My first trip self guided with a brand new boat on Presque Isle bay off Lake Erie PA waters I caught 2 over 5 and my first 6lber. Sweet achievement. But there is a time and a place where I don't feel a guide interferes with my sense of achievement. Especially when out of country or state when taking my own boat is not practical. But I do agree to tell the fairy to kiss off.

  4. Congrats on the new pb.
  5. I have three of them. One of the owners Robert is at the classic for the weekend. Mike should be available. The handles do show the weave nicely.
  6. 10-20 braid with a leader if you need it.
  7. Carry a small plastic trash bag with you. If you see any trash pick it up. People will notice you in a good way.
  8. Looks like a war of tug. Nice bass. Roberts headed over your way.
  9. That's why they have history books. Learn from the past and try to improve.
  10. Shimmy the biggest one was only 35% of your pb or just over 9lbs.
  11. Back reeling has been around for a long time. Guys practicing this technique seemed to be supplementing the drag system with a big fish nearing the boat on light line. Rather than adjusting the drag during the fight (normally taboo) they back reeled to put a little more give in the system. You have to be proficient at it for it to work otherwise you're asking for trouble. Musky fisherman typically free spool a baitcaster while double eighting a bait boatside because the fish hits with hardly any line out. They simple thumb the spool in place of using the drag boatside. Same technique.
  12. Looking sweet Mike.
  13. Mark you beat me to it. Just getting ready to post the same link.
  14. Robert (South FLA) from the boards and Hawgtech sponsor and I planned a little trip around his busy schedule to do a little bass fishing. We pre picked the day and set the plan in motion. Three days before the trip florida got hit with two more cold fronts which really sets these fish off. But the day was picked and off we went. On the way to the ramp we lamented the blue bird skies & cold front conditions. Little did we know we would have a good day fishing & catching. We ended up with about 50 fish caught for the eight hour day of fishing. For once the cold front did not beat us. Thanks for a great day on the water Robert.
  15. So sorry for your loss buddy. I know Diesel was very special to both of you.
  16. That's 104lb-6oz for biggest 10 fish. That exceeds a 10lb average pre fish.
  17. Raul is spot on. You should be using sizes 11 & 13 in the original floater. You can even use the size 18 for lunker bass.
  18. You're going to love the lake erie shore lunch.
  19. Sweet winter trip.
  20. The ironic part of that statement is that for a tin boat you did buy the one manufacture with the highest resale value.
  21. Sheet! I thought the place burnt down. Whats with all those clothes. Bibs at Baccarac?
