  1. Speedbead & I like the beard though.
  2. WTG Mike. Did that bait have owner st36's or st41's on it?
  3. That's because none of your recent posts are current. Besides Jeff said anybody that poses for a picture with a freshwater drum (sheephead) does deserve to lose a little content along with their diginity.
  4. A-Jay and I had a similar discussion regarding smallmouth to largemouth. We consider a 6lb smallie from lake erie to be the equivalent of a 10lb largemouth in Texas or Mexico (lake baccarac).
  5. I have a 2000, 2500, discontinued 1506 custom & the new jdm 2013 model. Never had a problem with any of them. The bails are bulletproof. Drags are very smooth . No binding or difficult winding. Very smooth. Built like tanks. I would highly recommend them. I have a stradic C14 and it is not in the same class but it is a less expensive reel so not a fair comparison.
  6. Stitch here is the link. http://www.muskyshop.com/modules/cart/products.php/nav_id/8/page/1/id/1063/name/SmityHookSharpener The 113-670 medium is the one I like. It may be too big for you but will do hooks uo to 5/0 & still do the smaller ones. I have had mine for over ten years & love it.
  7. Thanks for all the kind words Roger. Glad to see your back & all is well. Miss your informative posts.
  8. Stitch google Rollie & Helen's tackle. Look under hook sharpeners. The medium is the one I think you want. Wood or plastic handle with U shaped round file parallel to each other
  9. Chris if you catch a teenager you can have any position within the "SCROUNGA" CLUB you want. And the hazing period will dissappear.
  10. Dave I would steer you towards the GLX because of the same issues mentioned by South FLA. Your other choice is the St Croix LegendXtreme LXC70MHF. 7' MH Fast 12-20 line wt 3/8 to 1oz lure wt. The croix exceeds the loomis (1/4 to 3/4) by lure weight if you want to use something a little heavier. I think you would be happy with either. I will tell you the croix black handles are very comfortable to use instead of cork.
  11. I guess there will not be any left by the time I get down there. Happy Thanksgiving!
  12. I like to keep my elbows tucked into my sides but display the fish extended from there for a horizontal hold. It looks more natural that way. But my first priority when taking a fish pic is to take a pic that substantiates the stated weight of the fish. How many times have you read a guy say the picture does not do justice to the new PB he just caught . If I catch a 5lb fish I want the viewer to think it looks like a 5.5 or a 6. Fish taking pictures 101- lesson one Make sure the pic substantiates the stated weight. Don't force the pic but fill the frame. PB fish deserve a PB picture.
  13. New PB from November 2013. 10-lb-2oz.
  14. Congrats on a great season Mainebass 1984. I loved that little story about your mom.
  15. Offer to pull up & deploy the trolling motor while the boater warms up the motor & shuts it down.
  16. The only reason I mentioned your name is because you are one of the few that know where that stash resides.
  17. PB smallie on your birthday. That's kinda special.
  18. Thanks buddy. I have still got a box full a few spares.
  19. Since they are discontinued I am probably safe unless A-Jay steals my stash.
  20. If you have set the calcutta D up properly using the brakes & cast control knob you should be good to go. To set the brakes on the calcutta D you have to pull the spool to access the brakes. Maybe the problem is with your casting motion combined with the heavy baits. It is very easy to backlash when using heavy baits because they can accelerate so fast on a cast if you are whipping it as you cast. Try lob casting or casting sidearm and see if that helps. Just place the rod & bait behind you then cast forward without loading the rod like you would normally cast.
  21. Au contraire! The LUCKY CRAFT Staysee 120SP will get much deeper than 8 feet. How about double that. The Dobyns' STAYSEE 90SS V3 is a slow sink so if your patient you can fish it deeper as well.
