Yes. You really need a moderate action not XF for crankbaits with braid. The only way you could pull off using that rod for cranks /braid is by using a really loose drag.

My spare is located in the same location. This allows me to step out of the boat onto the top of the spare as a step to the tongue when retrieving my boat by myself. Works great for me.

You would be better off to dedicate a reel/combo to all braid for the heavy weeds & pads. Braid cuts weeds like a hot knife in butter.

I can't comment on the scatter rap because I have not used one. But I will defend the Rapala line of baits because they have been good to me at what I consider to be a fair price. My biggest smallmouth came on a Rapala tail dancer. I have caught numerous walleye between 10-11 lbs on Rapala tail dancers & Rapala husky jerks . Rapala husky jerks have accounted for an easy 25 smallies over 6 lbs in my boat. The original floaters & husky jerks have caught numerous 10-12 lb steelhead for me. I have caught northerns over 20lbs on Rapalas. Rapalas flat out catch fish. If you do not agree that is your choice but I have picture proof that they do. Case closed. If you don't agree just ask the Linder family.

Hey Speed which has the better hookup ratio between the two. I understand the mission fish slides up the line after hook up & reduces the weight leverage. Any pearls of wisdom?
