Hair Jigs for smallies
Here is an image of my favorite hair jig. Yes hair jigs can be effective from the bank if your able to reach bass inhabited areas.

Hair Jigs for smallies
OK I have used hair jigs both plain & tipped with a minnow. Both work. Best to use them as a cold water presentation below 55 degrees. Caught my 2nd biggest smallie on a hair jig prespawn 2 years ago. If your using them under warm water temps they become just a another jig. If that's what you want to do I would definitely add a trailer. Hair jigs offer a very fine finesse presentation in colder waters.

HDS-10 or HDS-8 with Structure Scan
I have the HDS-10 mounted on a 20' boat. It is attached on a ram mount. The size of the 10 is like a big screen TV, once you get used to it you never go back. I like mine , run it on split screen gps track/sounder most of the time. The bottom of the unit actually rests on the top of the dash which helps stablize it.

Year Old boats
Don't be afraid of the pro xs. My previous boat had a 150 yammi 4 stroke. Very reliable & quite. My new boat came with a 250 pro xs & I got to tell you I like it. Very good fuel economy similar to a four stroke. The proxs is the only two stroke to meet Cali emission standards so that tells you how efficient it is. I bought a pro boat with 100 hours on it and full warranty from boat, motor & electronics manufacture. Saved $13k. Check walleye central classified ads for another source on used boats.

Help modding LC Pointer
If you want to remove one hook take off the center one. Leave the front & rear alone.

Hey Nate, that's a pike.

First musky and some questions
Nice first ski! The other choice to holding them would be with a boga or suitable lip lock holder.

Thoughts on Shimano Calcutta Reels?
As already mentioned they are excellent reels. Very durable. I have gotten away from them with low profile reels but when I pick one up to use I remember how sweet they really are.
