  1. The other solution to your problem would be trying just the rear treble hook. Remove the front hook & the middle hook if one exists. Most fish eat a jerk bait from the rear in my experience. You will have to experiment with balancing each bait based on the change.
  2. He is such an a-- hole I can't mention his name.
  3. The ones I have used have mostly had really sharp stock hooks but some of the earlier models did not. Double check what you have to determine if they need changed.
  4. You should target longer rods (7-6 to 8') in the MH range that will handle baits up to a least an ounce in weight. The longer rods will help maximize casting distance & a MH will help with bigger baits & most importantly bigger fish. Don't bring a knife to a gun fight.
  5. Depends on the state you reside in. Some states require brakes for each axle.
  6. Congrats on the new PB.
  7. I was told the silver pike was an actual subspecies in the esox family. I have caught two blue walleye before not knowing what caused the coloration change. A taxidermist that mounted the first walleye told me it was actually an algae film that scrapped off the skin. When I first saw the fish in the water on his way to the net it glowed blue in the water. Surreal looking for sure. This a picture of an actual silver pike I caught years ago up in the northwest territories on Lac La Martre.
  8. I have a couple LC Staysee 90 signed by Gary Dobyns that are labeled slow sinking. I like using them over deeper water like 30-35'. They will get down to 12-15 on 10lb braid and will work deeper if you pause to let them drop. They are most effective worked on long leads & paused intermittently when looking for deeper bass. I have got some nice smallies on them.
  9. My only experience with fishing shallow ponds under 12' has been in southern GA & FL. Lots of 7-8lb bass with bigger bass mixed in. My PB pond bass is 9-2. My buddy caught a 14-8 which I measured & weighed. The owner of the pond has several 10s & a 12-8. FL golf course ponds & other low pressure ponds produce similar quality fish including DD's. Obviously they share a yearly growing season without any winter kill. The better ponds have off color or lower visibility & good food source. Farm pond with natural fertilization seem to always produce well.
  10. Bought lessons are always better than taught lessons. Experience teaches.
  11. When in doubt throw a lipless crank in there & you will probably snag one for ID.
  12. A $20,000+ auto warranty doesn't compare to a $200-400 rod warranty. Both Shimano & G Loomis warranty only applies to the original owner. If you want a warranty buy a new rod.
  13. Most of the PG's are offered in JDM but not USM.
  14. For deep cranking I use a bantam PG 5.5 & a curado 200 PG in 5.5 both with Hawgtech 110 mm handle. This is the best equipment for throwing 10xds with a low profile reel from my experience to reduce fatigue.
  15. Congrats Hammer 4 Your right Mike lots of patience. We just celebrated our 51st anniversary yesterday the 20th. Funny thing we left town for the weekend & stayed at a bed & breakfast for two days. There was another couple there celebrating their 51st anniversary married on the same day as us back in 1970. What are the odds of that happening?
  16. X2 I have been using it for two years & I'm very happy with it. It's a copoly that has good knot strength, abrasion resistance & lower stretch. I use primarily 14lb & 17lb on baitcasters for bass & 8lb for spinning.
  17. Great lake states like Ohio, PA, NY & MI.
  18. Many years ago I saw guys cleaning walleyes in the bathtub at cheap motels in the western basin of lake Erie. There were no public cleaning stations & and cleaning fish in your boat on the water was not allowed.
  19. Try these. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Owner_Single_Replacement_Hook_X_Strong/descpage-OSRH.html
  20. I can assure you we would all be butt sore if someone beat our hard worked for world record if someone beat it by an ounce. You would always wonder if it was just a scale error or someone cheating to beat you. It is much easier to concede defeat when someone obviously beats you. And 2 ounces could be that number. Anyway you don't have to like it or accept it unless you want IGFA to recognize your world record attempt. It's their rule, their game & their home court.
  21. Don't be afraid to negotiate & communicate. Ask your boss if you can perform the new job but keep your current schedule. Let him know your willing to work an odd schedule in order to get more week days off. That will tell him you appreciate the offer and are willing to work with him if he can work with you.
  22. If you catch a fish one ounce heavier than Kurita fish it would be 2 ounces heavier than Perry's fish which would be a new record if submitted properly. IGFA uses the two ounce rule for fish weighing up tp 25lbs. Fish over 25lbs have a higher differential to qualify. The reasoning for the two ounce rule is for eliminating scale tolerance differences. Weights needed to defeat or tie existing record 1. To replace a record for a fish weighing less than 11.33 kilograms (25 pounds), the replacement must weigh at least 56.69 grams (2 ounces) more than the existing record. 2. To replace a record for a fish weighing 11.33 kilograms (25 pounds) or more, the replacement must weigh at least one half of one percent more than the existing record. For an existing record weighing 45.35 kilograms (100 pounds), the additional weight required to defeat the record would be 226.7 grams (8 ounces). 3. A catch that matches the weight of an existing record or exceeds the weight by less than the amount required to defeat the record will be considered a tie. In the case of a tie claim involving more than two catches, the weight must be compared with the original record (i.e., the first fish caught). No catch weighing less than the original record will be considered.
  23. Jointed rapala.
