  2. Zander a close relative of our walleye are the European walleye & are found in fresh water & brackish waters. It looks just like a walleye but grows bigger in length & weight. Could be what you saw in Sams.
  3. Low light overcast day fish.
  4. Walleye will come in shallow during low light. Your best chance is fishing just before dark up to around midnight. They will herd baitfish around riprap & steep banks. They also can be caught on topwater after dark. Believe it or not they are suckers for small jitterbugs. You can also catch them along weed lines with floating and or suspending jerk baits twitched on near the surface. They will definitely feed up at low light as opposed to feeding on the bottom as they often do during the day.
  5. That’s the fresh water grand slam. But you need to add perch in there to make it a fivesome.
  6. Your knocking on the door with that one.
  7. Disclaimer I’m a Hawgtech user & supporter. The longer handles just feel better in hand especially for cranking & with larger baits like swimbaits. They increase your leverage & make for a more comfortable experience when fishing baits that add resistance on the retreive. For example Shimano adds a longer stock handle to many of their XG reels over the 6:0 ratios & the HG ratios.

    Sorry for your loss Catt.
  9. Congrats on the new PB
  10. Don't give up on them. I have had two PB's on them including my most recent.
  11. I like both spinning & casting but the spinner does allow using your dominate right arm more efficiently. The best outfit to use is the one you feel most comfortable using. I like a medium heavy moderate rod with 1oz max rating for using braid with a leader and a medium heavy extra fast with a 1oz max rating if using straight mono/flouro.
  12. Welcome to BR from an old Ohio transplant.
  13. It is the hunting forum after all.
  14. Three perch over 2lbs is impressive. Sounds like that might be some bigger bass in there than you realize.
  15. Donuts & skinny old white guys.
  16. With all the big walleye in Lake Erie & it’s tribs the new state record comes from an inland state river. Remarkable fish.
  17. Most of the salmon run is over. Try Artpark in Lewiston & Fort Niagara using jerk baits for smallies, brown trout, steelhead, lake trout & walleye. Also try some crankbaits & soft plastic swimbaits.
  18. Try some owner zo wire STX-45ZN size 6. They are 2X strength. Or you can try zo wire STX-38ZN if you want a lighter hook.
  19. Four of us, team Hawgtech members joined the Mike Bucca bullshad group for their annual October trip to lake Baccarac. The fishing conditions down at the lake have suffered from high heat & inconsistent patterns for the last several weeks. Numbers of fish caught & quality of big fish have suffered. The group consisted of 19 guys total because one guy had a cancelled flight with no alternative. The best bite for numbers occurred in the early morning with top water action. Mid day fishing was slow then the bite improved with the evening top water fishing until dark. Best baits were top water poppers & surface walk the dog style baits along with worms & flukes. Spinner baits, rattle traps, swim baits & underspins also produced. The hot bait one day was inconsistent the next as no real pattern ever got established. We all grinded the whole five days. What made this group so special was we had guys from all over the country from west coast to east & three Canadians. Everyone shared info daily trying to help anyone that was struggling to find & catch fish. The fishing knowledge & expertise shared by the better sticks was really impressive. We all learned from the experience. The comradery among new friends was a real treat. Everyone had an outstanding trip even though the fishing was so tough. Big fish for the week was a 11-4 with three over 10lbs & five over 9lbs for the group.
  20. Big glides/swimbaits because of the fatigue factor and achieving the perfect cadence can be difficult.
  21. She’s talented for sure.
  22. Try fishing a deep diver jerk bait and use a straight upward jerking motion. I fished with a really good fisherman & he used an upwards motion instead of down or to the side & he matched me fish for fish on Erie smallies.
  23. I have been using it for several years. ??
