  1. Got six of them & love them.

I met Harold Ensley on an airline flight coming back from Canada many years ago. He was the inventor of the reaper tail & brought it to market back in the 1950's. He designed it as a lake trout lure but it became a mutli-species lure shortly thereafter. We started using the 6" model in white color as a trailer for big jigs & killed the lake trout on them. We rigged then both vertically & horizontally. Harold was inducted into the fresh water fishing hall of fame. He was not only a lure designer but had his own TV show called The Sportsman's Friend. He was a very interesting individual to talk with. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Ensley
  3. He's definitely a free spirit with a good arm.
  4. Congrats on the new PB.
  5. Mine fit snug and prevented any spray from shooting up. I would just try it & see. Worse case get another plug & see if it fits better, Also you could glue it in permanently.
  6. Congrats on the DD. You could get a holder for your cell phone to mount on the kayak. Then get a Bluetooth hand held device that takes the pic from your phone when you press the button.
  7. Yes the plug goes in the recess between the vertical plate & horizontal arms. That plug should have come with the transducer. If you call Humminbird service they will probably send you one for free to fix the problem. The only way I know about the fix is because I had the same problem.
  8. Is the spray coming from the transducer? Some Humminbird transducers did that. The fix was to install a rubber plug between the braces to deflect the spray downward. Available from Humminbird. I have heard of Lunds listing to the port side. Ask your dealer if there is a way to redistribute the weight by moving the batteries. Welcome to boat ownership 101.
  9. I hope he bought a lottery ticket after winning the fishing lottery for Montana.
  10. Absolutely the truth based on my 11 years on Erie. Changing wind direction to NE as you are catching smallies kills the bite like someone hit a light swithch. Happens almost immediately.
  11. Red & gray would look nice especially if your an OSU fan.
  12. Just as a heads up the larger diameter spool on a 2500 or 3000 series reel casts further than the smaller reels. Some 3000 series have the same body size & weight as the 2500 but a larger spool.
  13. Just buy a scale so you wont have to ask "how much does my fish weigh".
  14. Way to get it done.
  15. Your point makes sense because it forces to just select proven winners & eliminates the thought process of what color to use, what size to throw & wasting time mulling over what to use next. But I'm guilty of carrying way to many baits.
  16. Just do a little research & you will find that guys have been complaining about the poor NRX builds for a really long time. The blanks are greatly loved but the build quality is only tolerated because of the iconic blanks. This guy is legit not a phony or liar. He tells it like he sees it.
  17. Welcome to BR from an old old guy from the midwest now located in SE FL.
  18. They are nasty especially the little ones. I never go pike fishing without a boga.
  19. I think the fad is much bigger on the saltwater side than fresh water. Scanning the coast line for feeding fish & migrating schools of sharks. Its like a fish finder view from above the water rather than below it.
  20. I can bear-ly see it.
  21. Try an inline spinner like a Blue Fox Vibrax in firetiger color comes with a brass blade on the inside. You cast cast them with spinning tackle or bait casting gear. Size 5 or 6. They make great search baits for pikes the color is high visibility & the special sound from the resonating bell design helps them locate the bait in off colored water. The best way to locate pike is to cast the weed lines & most effective is to troll them on the edge of the weeds or open water around other structure until you locate some. Trolling can be more effective because it gives the pike a longer opportunity to commit to a bait than when casting. When trolling vary the speed & pump the rod to change up the action.
  22. Those IMA Flits are a really good choice. Try throwing them on 10lb braid with or without a short mono/flouro leader. That will help get them down deeper.
  23. Good advice. Yes you need starter fertilizer to jump start the seed & watering. The peat moss helps hold the moisture in.
  24. The lip grip is best. I have seen fish flop off the hook and there is no chance of damage to the gills with the grip.
  25. Max tire pressure carries the maximum weight & keeps the tire running cooler. Max tire pressure prevents the tire from over heating & helps against tire/rim damage from chuck holes.
