Rods as a Non Boater
I usually bring four unless my boater has a lot of room and hes ok with me bringing more. Bring versatile rods that will cover a lot of situations. A great piece of advice one of the mods posted (I can't remember who it was) is to always bring a rod that you can carolina rig with, that way no matter what your boater does to you you can still fish.

fishing pointers or x-raps
When the waters very cold, I use long sweeping jerks with long pauses in between, often 30 seconds or more. As the water warms up I speed up the cadence and start using short jerks instead of long sweeps. Like RW, the majority of my jerkbaiting is done with pointers unless the fish are really active, at which point I switch to slender pointers (more erratic than regular pointer) or if I can get a bite with the slender pointers, I'll use x-raps. I am really a diehard pointer guy, especially in cold water, but if pointers aren't working don't be afraid to switch to x-raps even in cold water.

Watch Children Signs???
Completly random but... where you guys live do you have the signs that say "Watch Children," not "Watch For Children," they actually say "Watch Children." Everytime I drive by one I always think they're so awkward, like its encouraging pedophiles or something lol. Its just one of my pet peaves that I have, I mean, seriously, does it cost that much extra to paint that little word "For" on there? Does that bug anybody else?

Post something about the poster above you!

narrowed it down...
I have several presidents and they are amazing reels for the price but I have had problems with all of them after a year or two of use (and I take care of my reels). I haven't used a sahara but if its as well built as J Fancho and Raul say, then I would go with the shimano. Like I said, pflueger makes very good reels at an excellent price but I have had durability issues with every pflueger reel that I've owned (which has been 5 or 6).

Do You Like Korn?
Your right, we do think similarly. I'm not a huge fan of slipknots old stuff but they did have some stuff I liked and it was definitely real metal. I can't stand their new stuff, the only redeeming quality about their last CD is that they're guitarists do some awesome shredding but other than that its worthless IMO.

Do You Like Korn?
I'm with fourbizz. Korn is definately on the list of bands I absolutely hate for example (bands I hate): avenged sevenfold (pansy metal, I hate scene kids) bullet for my valentine (pansy metal, I hate scene kids, if you don't what a scene kid is google image it) disturbed (I hate the people who think they are hard@$$ because they listen to disturbed when in reality disturbed is closer to hard rock than metal and is in no way heavy or hard@$$) slipknot (same as disturbed except slipknot is at least metal, however, they have some singing, which is not tolerable) korn (just good old fashion terrible) Cannibal Corpse (I can't respect a band that doesn't take themselves seriously, google their song titles and you'll see what I mean, also, 90s grindcore sucks) ANY RAP MUSIC Sorry in advance fourbizz, I know you're a slipknot fan but its not my kind of metal, although I do respect slipknot as music, which is more than I can say for korn.

Why do I only catch little ones?
What kind of lures are you fishing? Whatever you are using, upsize. When the water is still cold, big smallies (and fish in general) don't want to exert as much energy on a single meal so they wait until large prey items come along. I'm inclined to think there are large smallmouth where you are fishing and that you just aren't presenting what they want. Some baits are better big fish baits than others. I catch my biggest smallies on big jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits so you might want to give them a try.

impossible to title
Let me tell you something, I am half-black, but the one thing in this world that makes me craziest of all (aside from walmart, which holds a special place in my heart) is people who assume that every injustice done to them in the world is because they're black, when 99 times out of a hundred they are being treated rudely because they are acting like @$$holes. I know racism is still a problem in America in many places, but I am so sick of African americans who attribute every single hardship in their life to racism or the fact that they're black. I don't care if you're black, white, chinese, mexican, obese, gay, left handed or all of the above, you need to take responsibility for you're own actions before you accuse other people of being prejudice. Like I said before, I know racism exists, but you can't attribute every problem in your life to it.

cheap and expensive baitcaster reels
X2, its most likely the spool tension. You should be able to find some tips on setting up a baitcaster on this forum (I think there might be a sticky? if not check the articles or do a search). Even a cheap reel should be able to much farther than a few feet if its set up properly.

What does everyone think about the Carrot stixs?
Personally I think the color is sick. I know most of you guys aren't Quantum fans but one of my blue tour editions on an orange carrot stick looks sweet! And Sam, to answer your question, they are very sensitive but they are not as sensitive as a loomis IMX or GLX IMHO but they are the most sensitive rod I've used in their price category.

What does everyone think about the Carrot stixs?
As of 6 am this morning I am the proud new owner of a 6'9" parabolic carrot stix. I'm using it as my dedicated jerkbait rod. Its the lightest rod I have every felt and I love the handle. I fished jerkbaits with it most of the day today and I landed a 4.25lb and a 4.5lb smallmouth along with several smaller ones. I still love my loomis rods and I wouldn't trade them for an army of carrot stix but for the price, carrot stix are incredible rods!

What is your best color in a Rat'L Trap?
When it comes to lipless cranks, I throw red craw 90% of the time but if the waters clearer I'll use chartreuse shad or sexy shad.

Okuma Concept C3 Spinning rod
I haven't personally used it but I know some guys on a thread a month or two ago said it was a pretty heavy rod, try doing a search

Do we need a law for everything?
x3 The Peoples Republic of Kalifornia has probably passed more laws in the past three months than the rest of the 49 states have in the last 20 years. Next they're going to claim that the loud commercials are proving harmful to the endangered condors...

Burley's random photo of the day
I'm sure the blade is a lot sharper than it looks in the picture. That picture is really close up which is probably why it looks like the edge is beveled.

Whats that little bit of blue on the blade? Never mind, I don't think I want to know...
