  1. X2 I'm an absolute music addict and I listen to my ipod for hours everyday but when I'm fishing I need to be able to focus on the sounds around me so I leave the ipod at home. Plus, if I dropped my ipod overboard (which, if you know me, you would understand that this is not only entirely plausible but quite likely) it would be like losing a pet.
  2. I'm sorry to say muddy I 100% disagree with you about Cabelas fishing department selection over BPS. The Hamburg Cabelas doesn't have anywhere near the selection that the Harrisburg BPS does. The only edge that Cabelas has over BPS is that they have some hard to find stuff that BPS doesn't carry. As far as house brand rods go, I prefer the BPS rods over the cabelas rods by far.
  3. X2 Pointers all the way!!!
  4. My club does draws as well. The only rule regarding who you draw is that you can't have the same partner for two consecutive tournaments.
  5. I need to order some hair jigs asap. Does anyone know anywhere I can order some decent hair jigs. I really should start tying my own but I don't have the time at the moment and I need them this weekend. Any suggestions?
  6. 20", although I had one in my hand that would have went 22 easily, slipped out of my hand and broke my line. I nearly cried. :'(
  7. LMAO thats great. Hilarious but its so true! ;D ;D ;D
  8. Pennsylvania: Positives: -Above the mason-dixon line -Home to the super bowl champions Negatives: -shares a border with New Jersey -Its cold
  9. They're awesome. Cherryseed is killer at some of the local lakes.
  10. They say the first step is admitting you have a problem...
  11. Steve: There's good news and bad news. The good news is a bus load of lawyers just went off a cliff. John: What's the bad news? Steve: There were three empty seats.
  12. about $50, lost three lucky craft jerkbaits. was using a pointer 128 in chartreuse shad and crushing bass but musky broke that off, moved down to a 100 in chartreuse shad, broke that off. Moved down to my final charteuse shad pointer, a size 78, lost that on a fish. I fished the rest of the day using pointers in different colors but I couldn't get a bite. Now I buy duplicates of everything. I can't fathom breaking off $300 worth of stuff in a day, I think I would have cried!
  13. I was looking through my cabelas catalog today and I noticed their new Prodigy Rods. I'm not a big fan of Cabelas rods but these look like pretty sweet rods for the money. Anybody own one or handle one yet? here's the link: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/horizontal-pod.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/pod-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166-cat603798&rid=&indexId=cat603798&navAction=push&masterpathid=&navCount=1&parentType=index&parentId=cat603798&id=0064413
  14. Wow 2 hours, well that in MO is the defanition of rushing it. I have been building now for close to 2 decades and a decent easy rod under time pressures still gets a rod done in no less than 30 hands on hrs....Your quick!coolhandlala, Start Reading Here... http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1152205660 Good Luck & Tight Wraps! I don't mean a couple as in 2 hours, I'm talking closer to 4-5, and I don't rush. I usually don't build my own handles from scratch, although I have in the past, (I've been using mudhole split grip components lately) so that takes a lot of time out of the process. I don't do any decorative butt wraps. I don't do any trim or anything fancy on my guide wraps, they're just solid black. I prefer to keep things simple as possible and less frills keeps the weight down, which is my biggest goal. The rods I build don't have any fancy decorative inlays or any extras that I can avoid. They're simple, well-built, and functional and they don't take very long to finish.
  15. Sick collection, I think I might be drooling a little bit. I really dig the upgrades!
  16. You can definitely build a quality rod the first time you do it. My first rod took me two days to build so I would plan on leaving a weekend free. Now I can build one in a couple hours but you really need to leave yourself a lot of time at first so you don't rush things. Like live 2 fish said stay away from cabelas kits if you can. If you have the cash, you can go for one of the G Loomis rods kits available from mudhole. They have kits from $90-190 so you should be able to find something in your price range. If you have questions PM me but flechero is really an expert and I'm sure he would be willing to give you some excellent advice if you talk to him. heres the link to those G Loomis kits: http://www.mudhole.com/Shop-Our-Catalog/Complete-Rod-Kits/G-Loomis-Spinning-Kits
  17. Listen to Raul's advice. Get an IMX. And go for a plastics rod, a high quality, sensitive rod is much more important for plastics than for cranks.
  18. As far as I know the old ones are still being made. They still have them at my local BPS and they're not on clearance or anything. I thing the crazy legs chigger craw is just an addition to the line up.
  19. There is definitely a difference in spinnerbait quality. Like some other people said, the wire and the swivels are the important thing. El cheapo spinnerbaits use weak wire and poor swivels and as a result, they start falling apart after a few good fish. Like RW I'm planning on giving the new LC spinnerbait a try to see if its worth the price or not.
  20. There's a guy who occasionally uses one to shoot skeet at the club where I shoot sporting clays. He actually grinds clays up pretty good with it. Another guy I know gave his girlfriend one that she uses for home defense. I don't know if they're exactly the ideal home defense gun but either way I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end.
  21. Excellent advice!!! Don't be afraid to use big jerkbaits. Slender pointers in size 127 are excellent choices during the summer.
  22. Jerkbaits like slender pointers or x-raps. Spinnerbaits: war eagle spinnerbaits in mouse for clear water and chartreuse/white for stained water would also be excellent. Also tubes, green pumpkin is really the only color you need. like RW said take a lot of tubes and a lot of tube heads. When you think you've brought enough, double it. You will be shocked how many tubes and jigheads you'll go through if a tube bite is on.
  23. It's a bummer that those C3s are heavy they look pretty sick. Did they seem to have good craftsmanship?
  24. No they're not hard to learn at all. It just takes a little bit of practice. Read some of the threads/articles hear about setting up your baitcaster right and you'll be casting decent enough to fish within an hour or two of practice. The big thing is have patience and don't get frustrated if you can't cast a mile at first. One word of caution, don't go for a super cheap reel because you think that you just want to try it out. The super cheap baitcasters in the $30-40 make learning much harder and you'll be quicker to give it up. Something along the lines of a BPS extreme would be a very good, mid/low priced starting reel.
  25. I used it last year and I liked it a lot. Maybe I got some good batches but I didn't have any breakoffs that I would attribute to the line. That being said, I'm somewhat OCD when it comes to line and I respool every other trip so I didn't exactly give it a chance to see how it held up long term.
