  1. Dan basically hit the nail on the head. Tungsten weights are louder, smaller, smoother so they slip into cover like grass a lot easier, and they increase sensitivity.
  2. Like dink, I really prefer a rod around 7'6" for flipping. For carolina rigs I prefer a 7' rod, and while a more sensitive rod would be ideal for c-rigs, at $20 you're right, you can't go wrong.
  3. so what you're saying is you were losing a lot of fish using gama's? No not a lot by any means but definitely more. I have had a lot of fish bend gammys though. So far the owner hooks I've used haven't bent at all and they seem to stay sharper a lot longer.
  4. So I've always been a gammy guy but that gammy vs owner thread a few weeks ago got me interested in trying owner hooks. Well, I picked up a pack and tried 'em out this past Friday, and all I can say is... wow. I can't believe how much stronger and sharper they are than the gammys. I was fishing brush hogs on 3/0 wide gaps and 4/0 twistlocks and I stuck every fish that bit. I don't think I'll be buying anymore gammy hooks in the future!
  5. Thats kind of what I was wondering. I figured they probably would pull out of the grass at night to ambush prey. Maybe I'll try some black spinnerbaits and buzzbaits along the weed edges as well.
  6. Beat me to it muddy ;D I bet when phish sees this post he's gunna get all excited! :
  7. I've been tearing 'em up with spro popping frogs at my local lake the past week. Well, I'm planning on going night fishing their soon and I'm wondering how well frogs might work at night. This lake has massive amounts of matted grass that the bass love when its really hot out. Do you think I could still catch bass on this matted grass at night, or do you think they will move out of the thicker grass because they don't need the protection from the heat. Anyone have any experience frogging at night? I was thinking a black spro popper might work well.
  8. X2, I don't have any experience with the fish eagle 2 but if you flip a lot then you really do want to invest in the best flippin' stick you can afford. Sensitivity is a huge factor with flipping, and also keep in mind that higher-end rods are generally going to be a lot lighter, which is a big plus when you're flipping all day. If you don't flip a lot though or if your budget is tight you'll probably be fine with a fish eagle.
  9. Different profile in the water, but I'm like Catt, I'm like Catt, 80% t-rig 20% jig. Jigs typically offer a little more bulk, which is probably why they tend to catch larger bass. Texas rigs are a little more versatile, and they're much more weedless. They come through grass much easier than jigs do. I also think that t-rigs offer a more natural presentation then jigs do, which is why I tend to use t-rigs more in clear water.
  10. North Korea would be known henceforth as "The Korean Sea"
  11. Dude, no offense at all but you clearly don't understand the reasons that people buy high end rods. I don't factor in "breakage" when I'm purchasing a high-end rod. I'm much more concerned with sensitivity, lightness, balance, and the general feel of the rod. If you held a $15 wally-world rod in one hand and a Loomis IMX (or any other higher-end rod) in the other you would see what I mean. And cheaper rods are definitely not made "the same exact way" as $100+ rods. Craftsmanship, component quality, and general aesthetics of the rod are much improved.
  12. Custom IMX MBR843 curado 201E7 14lb XPS fluoro
  13. dats called a refleckshun when u take a pic out ur winder in yo veehickle and yo have sumtin behind ya on yo udder winder ;D It's painful to read this Sure thing there pal, all of dem der post that fella does been done givin' me a real tuff time cuz he don't like ta spell things out ya see? 14. If they launch a missile (which they won't) we should intercept it, destroy it, and then blow the living out of them.
  15. Well I was out fishing monday and I was throwing a spinnerbait on my 6'6 med carrot stix when the rod snapped in half in the middle of a cast. I don't know what caused it to happen. As far as I know it didn't have any nicks in the blank or anything. Anyway, here lies the problem... I'm an idiot. I misplaced the little card that came with it that apparently has the warranty info. So what are my options? :-/
  16. That's definitely a pig, and I'm with flechero and FBL, the 2oz rule is ridiculous, bigger is bigger. By the way LOL, has any one else noticed that none of the california boys seem to have any input on this... they must be at home wallowing in defeat ;D
  17. LOL my friend does the exact same face whenever he plays something he doesn't quite have down on the guitar. Its pretty funny. Like Burley said, you just gotta smile
  18. I hooked a beaver on the tail last summer... it was angry
  19. I basically asked a reasonable question, which nobody has really brought up. Although this poster's response isn't all that harshsometimes when you really don't have anything informative or nice to sayit's nice to leave comments such as this out. I doubt "Sweet Daddy" (please get a new user name) was trying to be a jerk. This is a prime example of people getting offended over a poor choice of wording. And plus, he's right, if you can't feel a bass on braid... :-X Edited by LBH --BW,...your choice of words is WORSE! lmao LOL fair enough
  20. River smallmouth- pointer 100 in chartreuse shad Largemouth- changes depending on the lake I'm fishing, some of my favorites are a black spro bronzeye popping frog, t-rigged paca craw w/ 1/4 oz tungsten weight, or a white nichols 1/4 oz spinnerbait
  21. At least not anyone that knows squat about rods. ;D Really? How different can 9 or 10 guides be spaced on a 6'9'' rod with different effect? I don't get this either. Granted, I only have half a dozen rods under my belt but I have never heard of much discrepancy in rod spacing. Guide choice, single or double foot, even guide number sure but like you said, I don't know how many different ways you can put 9 guides on a 6'9" rod. As far as rods, as far as sensitivity goes, GLX, but steez rods do look sick.
  22. X2 pick up some of the new spro poppers as well. Been nailing 3-5lber on them the last two days, blow ups the size of manhole covers!
