Whats Gone Wrong?
Wow, reading this whole thread was like being in some kind of odd, BR therapy session. Moderators are just that, moderators. They're not the Hurt Feelings Police. For the most part, they do an excellent job of keeping things friendly. BR is like a big online quasi-family, and all families have problems. BR would be pretty boring if everyone had the same opinion and was bright and cheery all the time.

Terrible Weather
Go to the bay with the lily pads and start throwing spinnerbaits all around the pads. Big bass love spinnerbaits in the rain

Line snapping (Braid Help)
X2 From the company that brought you Vanish :... Fireline, Fireline Chrystal, Fireline Braid, it doesn't matter its all trash. I don't care if the new Fireline Braid has 8-strands, 20-strands, or 36-strands, Power Pro is still the best out there, maybe behind Daiwa Samurai braid which I have yet to try.

Cranking Rod

Space Monkey Help
I have had success on finicky bass fishing the space monkey t-rigged on 8lb fluoro and a 1/16 oz bullet weight. It has a really slow, fluttery fall that the bass seem to like when they're in a funk. Keep what Burley said in mind too though, no matter how good a bait is, its not the right choice all the time.

Do You Think Catching a Big Bass is Luck?
It doesn't mean you don't have any skill, it means you didn't have enough skill to adapt to the tougher conditions. Getting skunked doesn't have much to do with luck IMO. I personally think that when you first start out fishing, most of the bigger bass you catch are by luck, as you get better, it has a lot less to do with a luck and a lot more to do with skill and knowledge. Like others said, catching one big bass may be luck, catching big bass consistently is skill.

Anyone try the Optimum or the XPS Rigged Paddletail Swimbaits?
Haven't tried the optimums but I'm planning on getting some as for the XPS... they definitely don't catch huge river smallmouth... send 'em my way and I'll get rid of 'em for you...

My Dog
Maybe to a child and thats a BIG maybe, getting another pet will cure that, but no way is it up there with the hardest thing. When my brother committed suicide, that's up there with the hardest, I believe a death of your child is the hardest thing you will ever go thru I said one of the hardest things, not the hardest. Obviously the loss of a human loved one is exponentially more devastating than the loss of a pet.

Reels and Rods? How do i decide the best one?
Like natural said, we need to know your budget. Prices very for rods that can handle 15" 5lbers Seriously though, you should base your rod choice on the techniques you are going to use it for, not the size bass you are targeting. I've landed big bass on an ultralite with 6lb line and with heavy action flipping sticks with 50lb braid. If you have your drag set properly, most rods will be able to handle decent sized bass.

Line and knots??
Palomar. I've never been broken off at the knot when using palomar, even with fluoro. Improved clinches are weak IMO but I know they work for some people.

Is the megabass vision oneten worth $25
Like others said, worth is subjective. As far as my experience: I haven't been in any situation where a megabass vision 110 outperformed a LC pointer, but I have been in situations where a pointer outperformed a vision. So taking that into consideraton, no, I personally wouldn't spend $10 more for a jerkbait that doesn't perform any better than a pointer. Its not that I have a problem paying $25 for a quality jerkbait, but why spend $25 when you can get an equal, if not better performer for $15.
