Suggestions on new rod and reel
I was going to mention that, but I figured RW would be along in a little while to suggest an Avid/Stradic/Yozuri Hybrid outfit, and he'd move this thread to the correct section when he was done. ;D

Suggestions on new rod and reel
Without knowing your budget and intended use, you're just going to get a bunch of random responses with recommendations that may or may not suit your needs. You need to be a bit more specific if you want decent advice.

which rod
I've compared the Veritas to the Carbonlite three times now (7'MF casting, 7' MHF casting, and 6'6" MHF spinning), and walked out with a Carbonlite each time. The Veritas may actually be a better rod, but it certainly didn't look or feel that way when I compared them side-by-side. I would strongly suggest holding each in your hands before ordering...especially if you're considering the Carbonlite with micros. It makes the comparable Veritas feel like a brick.

New Rod & Reel for my Birthday
I picked up the same rod for light t-rigs for my B-day a couple weeks ago and so far I'm really digging it. I have the 7' MH with the micro guides as well, but I wanted to be able to run braid with a leader so the micros weren't an option on this rod. Enjoy your new combo. I have no experience with eth PQ, but they seem to get pretty good reviews. I'm sure it'll work well for you. Oh, btw, Happy B-day.

Online purchasing
I've never heard of most of those sites, but Topglock.com has a less than stellar reputation on the larger Glock owners' forums.

CITICA UPGRADE or WINCH
Maybe you should look into buying a spare spool or two. It'll be far cheaper than a new reel, and will give you 2-3x the line capacity.

Keeping your tackle hidden from wifee?
I generally keep my "fun money" seperate from the household money, especially since I haven't held a full-time job in close to two years. If I find something that I want, I just sell a few of my "extras" to cover it.

abu garcia revo s or orra sx or a pflueger Asaro casting reel ?
I have no experience with the Orra, but the Asaro is a pretty nice reel for its price. I prefer it over the Citica.

Which worm floats best for a shaky head?
I'm kind of partial to the Berkley Power Shaky Worm, but I really hate the Power Bait stench.

Jigs fallin apart!
Have you ever thought about using safety wire pliers for this? They're made for twisting wire and can do it very quickly and evenly. I've been doing it to all of the spinnerbaits I've built lately...

Trick Worms don't float.

Truck Buying Help
Is this the same as a "Rebuilt" title? If so, you can disregard the book value on the truck because in many places "rebuilt" means it was once "totaled" and/or titled as "salvage". Once that happens, the value drops like a rock, regardless of how well the repairs were done.

Help me keep a couple reels! Which ones to sell?
x2 They're far from junk. The Capricorn 100XTC is an 8 bearing, ported spool version of the Procaster 100H, which got good reviews from TT back in the day... http://www.tackletour.com/reviewdaiwaprocaster.html It's a solid reel, built on an aluminum frame, with a comfortable profile. Definitely a big step up from the others in that lot.

US Reel Hibdon Supercaster 800SX
It's there. It's the first question in their FAQ... http://www.usreel.com/products/BaitCasterFAQs.aspx I don't know. They're obviously making them somewhere since they're readily available online and at some larger retailers like Academy. They could just be selling off old stock, I suppose.

US Reel Hibdon Supercaster 800SX
The line comes off the top of the spool like a "normal" baitcaster, but then it goes under the seesaw instead of through a levelwind. As long as you have a lure tied on, you have tension on the line. It seems like it would be a problem, but it actually works surprisingly well.

US Reel Hibdon Supercaster 800SX
Well, I guess since you guys are no help I'm going to have to find out on my own. ;D I managed to find a very lightly used one for sale on ebay for $40 less than a new one, so I snatched it up. If it works out well enough, I may pick up another to replace my Curado. Yup, I said it. I might replace a Shimano with a US Reel Supercaster. ;D ;D ;D

Big bear Rods?
Because you're tired of feeling all of those annoying fish that keep taking your lures. Duh. :

Elites= Athletes?
Nope. Do you consider throwing darts a sport? Some people make a living doing it, but I definitely wouldn't call them athletes.
-
Elites= Athletes?
Imho, they're no more than skilled workers, much like carpenters or tailors. They have managed to make a living doing what many would consider a hobby. If my wife made a living competing in knitting contests, would that make her an athlete?

!!!BOGUS PAYPAL EMAIL!!!
That one has been circulating for years. I guess if they're still using it, people are still falling for it.

Anyone know of bait or tackle shops for sale
This ^^^ If they're for sale, there's usually a good reason. Opening a tackle shop might've been a good idea 10 years ago, definitely not right now.
-
symetre vs supreme xt??
Definitely Supreme XT. I used to have a few Symetre 2500's (the previous version, not the new FJ) but I sold them all in favor of Supremes.
-
How light can you go on a BC?
True, especially when you're talking about spinnerbaits. In the ones I've measured, the weight given on the package is just the weight of the head. The blades, swivel, skirt, etc can all add up to quite a bit more.

Whats the catch?
No catch. Just wire the money to some guy in Nigeria and they'll deliver the truck in a couple days...
