  1. Dude, you broke your replacement rod? ;D That sucks....but it's still pretty d**n funny. ;D
  2. I've often wondered if the majority of folks on there even fish, or if they just like playing "dress up" with their rods/reels. I've been on there a while now, but I rarely post. I prefer to search through the old posts to get the info I want. Now that the old posts are gone, I'll probably spend far less time there.
  3. I can see how it would take the sharp edges off the gears and make them mesh more smoothly, but it also sounds like it could really screw up your bearings.
  4. I use just enough mono to barely cover the spool, then I fill the rest with braid. Spinning or casting, they're done the same way.
  5. I'd be worried about it reacting with my leader material and making it weaker. It wouldn't do any good to make the knot stronger if you're making the line next to the knot weaker.
  6. Our season never really ends, so I just leave the reels mounted on the rods, and everything hanging on my wall-mounted rod rack. The only time the reels come off the rods is for service, line replacement, or to be sold.
  7. Pflueger President XT - $79.99 Shimano Sahara FD - $79.99 Pflueger Supreme - $99.99 Shimano Symetre FJ - $99.99 I prefer Pflueger reels, but the Shimanos in that price range are pretty solid choices as well. BPS spinning reels generally get mixed reviews, and the Quantums in that price range tend to be much heavier than comparable reels from the other manufacturers.
  8. Definitely a good choice for smaller spinnerbaits, and possibly lighter soft plastics, like small t-rigs and shaky heads...depending on the sensitivity of the rod. I'm actually in the market for a 7' MF casting rod right now for light t-rigs. My 7' MHF actually handles them fairly well, but I think I can squeeze a bit more distance out of the cast with a Med.
  9. Potatoe/potato ;D Note the spool and cast control knob.
  10. I doubt you'll find very many people who have experience with the Carbon Black since it's a new reel for 2011, but from the looks of it, it's just last year's Johnny Morris Signature Series with a carbon fiber handle (what's the point on a 9+ oz reel?) and a different finish. A search for info on the JM Sig. should turn up plenty of info.
  11. True, but it is cheaper than many of the other readily available mono lines out there. To me, that alone is enough of a reason to use it as backing.
  12. Not really, but Tuesday is my B-day so I'm gonna go find something. ;D Plus, I have class on Tuesdays, and BPS is only 2-3 miles from the school.
  13. FWIW, the only reel I've owned that had problems straight out of the box was a Citica 200E. The Shimano name is not necessarily a guarantee of quality.
  14. I thought about going today, but I figured I'd just wait until the middle of next week instead. Too many workin' folks there on the weekends.
  15. I had amazingly good luck with the 6" Tequila Sunrise version a littel over a year ago on Watts Bar. When I got back I bought up every bag I could find locally, and several bags of the 4". It's a good thing I did, as the 6" version has become just about impossible to find over the past year.
  16. As I said, $20 more than full retail on a Citica. Good score.
  17. Personally, I wouldn't even consider a Citica at full retail when I can get a Curado on Ebay for $20 more...shipped to my door.
  18. I did have something positive for you: advice. I'm not trying to be a jerk, really. If you have a problem with a product, the best way to handle it is to contact the manufacturer. They're the only ones who can solve the problem. We can all tell you stories about the quality of paint on different lures, but in the end, what does that accomplish?
  19. If it bothers you that much, contact Yozuri. Griping about it on here accomplishes nothing.
  20. These same careless owners rarely have their animals spayed/neutered, increasing the numbers of animals that will have to be euthanized. > Also, I don't know about LA shelters, but around here if you bring your dog/cat to the "pound" and sign it over to them thinking it'll be put up for "adoption", you're in for a rude awakening. It's considered a voluntary surrender, and they're typically the first ones to be euthanised. Don't get a pet unless you're sure you can take care of it.
  21. I usually use PowerPro and have several unopened spools in a few different colors along with some Sufix Performance braid, but lately I've been using something else on my casting rigs...and I'm almost embarassed to admit what it is... :-/ I picked up several spools of Ugly Braid out of the clearance bin of a local retailer, and the 50# actually isn't too bad. :-/ I know it's not a popular line, and I never would've paid full price for it, but it casts well and the color seems to be holding up just fine. It's also surprisingly quiet once it's broken in. At $1 a spool, it appears to be worth it...so far, anyway.
  22. I generally prefer a higher ratio for spinnerbaits, so I use a 200e7 on my SB setup. Generally, most of my slow rolling is done on spinning gear. More specifically, a Pflueger Supreme XT (9235) @ 6.2:1 It actually has a higher IPT rate than the e7, but I find it easier to go slow with spinning gear, and I feel like I have better control over the lure at slow speeds with the Supreme. It may be all in my head, though. ;D
  23. One of the WM's not too far from here still has brand new Citica D's in their reel case. ;D
  24. I spent 13 miserable years there, and if I have my way, I'll never go back...for any reason.
  25. Why would anyone in their right mind go to Alabama, especially B'ham? I'd rather pinch my testicles off with a pair of pliers.
