  1. That's not too bad. Mine is typically far worse than that, but there's no way my wife would let me keep my crap anywhere in the house. I have a little workshop down in the basement where I keep my fishing gear, kayak, canoe, some misc. tools, etc... The majority of the boxes under the bench are full of lures and line (you can see a few spools of Sufix Elite in the open box), with a few oddball bags of plastics hanging on the wall. The Plano boxes on the bench are full of skirts, spinnerbait blades, misc. treble hooks, etc. There's also a table to the right of the vise where I stack my full Plano cases, and the footlocker I keep them in when I travel.

  3. I never got my bag. What I got instead was a hat...mailed in a padded envelope. Who in their right mind ships a baseball cap in an envelope? It looks like somebody sat on it for a week. > What's even more irritating is my father-in-law keeps getting tackle bags from them, for no reason. He's been a member forever, so it's not like he keeps resubscribing or anything. :
  4. The closest Academy to here is roughly an hour away, so in-store pickup is not an option. It's funny, a city the size of Atlanta and we don't have an Academy or Cabelas.
  5. There's an Ebay seller who sells them $16 for 50 of the 4" and $13 for 50 of the 3". Not a fantastic deal, but still not too bad.
  6. You can t-rig them and fish 'em just like a worm.
  7. I think a large part of it depends on whether you're talking about a spinning or casting setup. You can get a decent spinning reel that will last you a few years for $60. In general, baitcast reels in that same price range will be questionable, at best. Normally, I'd say rod before reel...but some of the newer ~$100 rods are actually pretty darn nice and comparable to some of the $150 rods from a few years ago. I'd have no problem putting a Curado on a Veritas, for example.
  8. I sold my Symteres and replaced them with Supremes. One of the best fishing-related decisions I've made so far. The Supremes are smoother, lighter, and (imo) better looking than the Symetres. No contest.
  9. My local Sports Authority does the same thing from time to time. Their fishing inventory doesn't really move, so just about any item you pick up will have 3 or more price tags, one on top of the other, and each with a higher price than the last. Most retailers mark their stuff down when it doesn't sell, they mark it up. :
  10. You can't compare the gear ratio of a spinning reel to that of a casting reel. Most spinning reels have a much higher IPT (even at the same gear ratio), and the ITP will also vary according to spool diameter, so a smaller reel will have a lower IPT than a larger version of the same reel.
  11. Short range spinnerbait tossin'.
  12. Is it just me, or does this thread title remind anyone else of New Zoo Review? :-/ ;D
  13. Yup. That's what I've been doing for the past several years.
  14. Lol, I'm probably not the best person to ask. When Ebay took over Paypal, there were major security issues and bunches of people had their accounts hacked. Mine was one of them. If it wasn't for CapitolOne, I would'nt have known for days. They (the crooks) accessed my account, changed my contact info, and sent themselves $1258 (the contents of my Paypal account and the rest on my credit card). I never got an email or anything. CapitolOne flagged the transaction and held the money in limbo because it didn't match my "spending profile". As soon as they realized what was going on, they credited my account but I had to jump through hoops to get the other $400 back from Paypal. If I'd had a debit card on there instead of a credit card, that money would've come straight out of my bank account and I wouldn't have known about it for days. The bank sure as hell wouldn't have called me. By then, it would've been too late to reverse the charges. You can do what you want, but I will NEVER link my bank account to my PP account. Never, never, never. If it becomes a requirement, I'll close my account. I leave a deactivated debit card as my primary and a credit card as a secondary to keep the account open. If I want to buy something through PP, I'll add my debit card, pay for the item, and then remove the card from the account. It takes maybe 5 minutes to do this, but it makes me feel a whole lot better.
  15. I bought the majority of my local Kmart's fishing inventory when they decided to minimize their sporting goods dept. At this time, they stock nothing but a handful of cheapo combos (rod, reel, and a tackle box full of crap nobody in their right mind would use), and a few misc. kid's tackleboxes (Dora, Spongebob, etc.). That's about it.
  16. Man, wish I had seen that before I ordered my spinnerbaits. Oh well, they're still worth every penny. Good looking plastics. When I place my next order for spinnerbait heads (hopefully within the next few weeks), I'll be looking at the plastics as well.
  17. 1) Their email address 2) Your email address I don't think you can transfer the money to your debit card unless it's a Paypal debit card, or you have your PP account tied to your bank account. I'm going to give you a bit of free advice, take it for what it's worth... Don't leave your debit card on your PP account as a primary card. If your account gets hacked, and they buy a bunch of crap, it comes directly out of your account. If you don't find out right away, you're screwed and might start bouncing checks.
  18. Wow, that's an expensive plastic boat. Around here, you could buy a johnboat, trailer, and small motor or trolling motor for that kind of money.
  19. It varies from one store to the next. I have at least 6 within a 20-30 minute drive, and they all carry different stuff. The one closest to the house carries a decent selection of Zoom plastics, a few different Berkley palstics, and Rapala cranks, but there's one about 20 minutes from here that carries Citicas, Revo S, All Star rods, lots of Strike King cranks and spinnerbaits, and a much wider variety of lines than you'd expect to see at a dept store. Heck, we even have one about 15 minutes north of here that stocks a pretty decent selection of fly fishing gear.
  20. Two of these while they're on clearance: http://www.basspro.com/Pflueger-Supreme-XT-Spinning-Reels/product/98349/-1450589?cm_sp=PfluegerSupremeXTFeb2011_HM And a couple of these in the length/power/action of your choosing (perhaps a 7' M and a 7' ML for finesse lures?): http://www.basspro.com/St--Croix-Triumph-Series-Spinning-Rods/product/103653/-1284081 The rod is built on the same blank as the Mojo, in the same factory, and comes with the same warranty. It's just not as flashy.
  21. They (St. Croix) offer a very similar but heavier-powered rod in their Mojo lineup, the 6'8" M/XF. It's marketed as a "wacky rig" rod, but it's really suitable for most soft plastics and lighter finesse jigs. I wouldn't want to toss crankbaits with it, but it will handle just about anything else just fine. If you really feel that 10 lb line is necessary for the waters you fish, I'd probably opt for something a like a MH, though.
  22. Way too large and heavy for any rod I own, and too heavy for the Mojo you're looking at as well...especially since it's a ML/XF dropshot rod. If you can find the same reel in the 20 size, it might not be a bad choice.
  23. Ah, well in that case, the Redington CT (Classic Trout) is what I'd recommend. I have the 8'6" 5wt and the 7'6" 3wt, and absolutely love them both. If I was looking for another trout or all-species rod, I'd order another CT without hesitation.
  24. I buy mine online and save a copy of the license on the 'puter so I can make copies as needed. I keep one in every tackle box, my fly fishing vest, car, truck, desk, etc. Never know when I may get the urge to grab a single rod and a pack of plastics and hit the local pond, so I want to make sure I'm covered. It's also the first thing I do when the family and I head out on vacation. I hit the Fish & Game dpt. site for wherever we're going and buy my license online. That way I can do the same thing with the multiple copies of my temp license.
