  1. They're made by/for J&T Distributing. They have a nice finish, with a teflon coating much like DPMS. I've built a couple rifles using their lowers and have no complaints.
  2. That's funny, I actually remove the split rings from all of my cranks as soon as I take them out of the package. I use Norman Speed Clips, so the split ring is completely unnecessary.
  3. Because it works, is readily available in the color I like (yellow), and some of us still have several spools to go though before we can even think of switching brands...and as long as PP lasts, that'll be a LONG time.

    ;D
  5. I actually found them by accident the other day. If you narrow your search to BPS baitcasters, it won't come up. You have to search though all of the baitcasters.
  6. Personally, I'd pass on either one in favor of this one... http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Pro-Qualifier-Tournament-Baitcast-Reel/product/10224165/-1673055 It appears to be built on the Carbonlite platform, and is over 2 oz lighter than the Rick Clunn reels. I've handled them in the store and they're smooth and compact. If they offered them in a 7.1:1, I'd own one...but I have no use for a 6.4:1 baitcaster right now.
  7. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewfluorocarbontest.html http://www.tackletour.com/reviewfluorocarbon2.html I use it, but only as leader material with braid.
  8. Like this one? ;D
  9. According to TW: Jr. = 3/8 75 = 5/8 85 = 1 oz. I don't know where TW got this info, because I couldn't find it on Spro's site. It's been a long time since I bought any new ones, so maybe the weights are listed on the package?
  10. Yup. Northland Slurpies 4" ringworms in "Green Sunfish" are my go-to lure. T-rigged on a 2/0 offset round bend or O'Shaughnessy hook with a 1/8 oz tungsten bullet weight. It has worked on every body of water I've fished in the past few years.
  11. 6'9 ML/XF spinning - 6.2:1 (dropshot, finesse plastics, floating worms) 6'6 M/F spinning - 4.3:1 (jerkbaits, live bait) 6'8 M/XF spinning - 6.2:1 (light t-rigs in open water/light cover, finesse jigs, shaky head) 6'6 MH/F spinning - 6.2:1 (heavier t-rigs or t-rigs in heavier cover, beavers, jigs) 6'10 MH/F casting - 7:1 (spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, lipless cranks, square bill cranks)
  12. You obviously haven't been here very long. ;D
  13. Probably a silly question, but do you have line on the reel? If you do, and use the little plastic line holder on the spool, sometimes the tag end of the line will hit the rotor or bail when it rotates, causing a clicking sound. FWIW, the Regal is a pretty nice reel for the money. I've had a little 1000 on my UL rod for a few years now with no complaints at all. I think I paid about $27 for it, on clearance at Sports Authority.
  14. It's up to the individual store. I had a warranty issue with a Crucial and BPS didn't want to give me a replacement because I'd had it for over a year.
  15. I handled one a couple weeks ago at the Atlanta BPS and was surprised how gritty and rough the extendable butt section was. It may have just been that particular rod (they only had one in stock), but I put it right back where I had found it and walked away unimpressed.
  16. Well, yes and no. They're built on the same blank, but the only length/power/action the split-grip Premier and Mojo share is the 7' MF.
  17. I thought this was interesting... http://www.cabelas.com/product/Fishing/Fishing-Rods/Spinning-Rods%7C/pc/104793480/c/104764680/sc/104836680/St-Croix-Premier-Split-Grip-Spinning-Rods/1156608.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ffishing-fishing-rods-spinning-rods%2Fst-croix%2F_%2FN-1102841%2B1000004747%2FNe-1000004747%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104836680%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253Bcat104793480%253Bcat104764680%26WTz_st%3DGuidedNav%26WTz_stype%3DGNU&WTz_l=SBC;cat104793480;cat104764680;cat104836680 It's like an American-made Mojo...but in a respectable color. ;D
  18. This same information has been posted on every outdoors site I've been to over the past few days, so I'm not surprised the shelves were bare. ;D
  19. It's hard to tell from the pics, but it really looks (and sounds) like fly line backing to me...
  20. Nothing personal, but this is exactly the reason I won't buy reels that have been tinkered with. Some things are best left to the folks who do it for a living.
  21. I'd pass on it. I've bought several spools of Power Pro on Ebay for about the same price, and occasionally, for substantially less.
  22. The Citica 200E and the Curado 200E are built on the same platform, so why would they keep one and replace the other?
  23. I looked at one a couple weeks ago and the main reason I didn't buy it was the "unique folding handle". It just looked and felt cheap to me, especially at the Certate's price. I know the handle can be replaced with a RCS machine-cut version, but adding another $150 to the price of the reel made it even less attractive to me. ;D
  24. Based on my limited research, Quantum spinning reels are generally heavier than comparable products from the other large reel manufacturers. I can't find an exact weight for the Tenacity 40, but their lower-end spinning reels seem to run from 11 oz. to almost 13 oz. in the 40 size, so the Tenacity is most likely in that range as well.
  25. The Gambler Giggy Head is available with either a 4/0 or 5/0 hook.
