  1. Good question. I grabbed my reel out of the car and using a dime wrapped in a tissue (not sure how durable the finish is on that cap) I unscrewed and removed the little slotted cover. The knob is in fact removeable, but the knobs from a standard Supreme or President XT will not fit the shaft. The OD of the bearings in the EVA grips is much larger than the bearings in the Supreme grip, and the OD of the XT's shaft is much larger than the ID of the Supreme bearings. So, theoretically it is replaceable...but not with a standard Pflueger rubberized plastic knob, which is what I want. Actually, there are two bearings in there.
  2. I appreciate the offer, but I already have two other Supremes I could swap handles with if I wanted to. The carbon-fiber handle is one of the things that makes this reel as light and attractive as it is. None of the other handles would look right on there, as it's the only reel in the lineup without any silver/chrome/polished aluminum trim.
  3. As much as I like the look, weight, and performance of the reel, I absolutely despise the EVA knob. It's too square, too small, and feels like a small sanding block. Whose bright idea was that? I thought it was kinda uncomfortable when I bought it, but I figured I wouldn't notice it while fishing. I was wrong. I just got off the phone with Pflueger's parts/tech dept., and the knob is not even replaceable. They said I'd have to swap the entire handle. > There isn't even another handle in their product line that would look right on there. As much as I like the reel, I won't be buying another one.
  4. Probably more likely. When was the last time you heard/read about anyone using one of his rods? I know there are some folks here using his reels, but from what I've seen, most of those folks bought them on clearance...not because they really liked the reel.
  5. If a company took my signature rods/reels and made them a hideous purple color, I'd be looking for a new sponsor too. ;D
  6. Is it possible that you hit the rev-limiter when you "got on the gas really hard"? Maybe the truck's computer put it into "limp mode" to keep you from tearing something up?
  7. I've picked up a couple for less than $90 shipped, one was less than $85 shipped.
  8. I wanted a snack, and it seemed like a far better choice than the Lindor truffles that were staring me in the face. ;D
  9. They look pretty cool, but that weight would be a deal breaker for me. :-/

You also have the option of tea or hot cocoa. I like ours, and don't really care who doesn't. ;D
  11. Dang box ought to have some kind of warning on it reminding you to pay special attention to the portion size or maybe they could put a 1/2 c. measuring cup in the box or something. > My freakin' jaw is killing me and I still have 1/3 of a bowl left.

I love our Keurig. I'm not a big coffee drinker and the Keurig allows me to have a single cup whenever I want without making an entire pot, or resorting to that nasty instant crap.
  13. Country of origin has nothing to do with the quality of a product.
  14. I've had fly rods shipped to me in those triangular boxes, but they were also in divided rod socks, inside of a hard tube. As long as they're willing to insure it, I wouldn't worry about it.
  15. X2 Especially if their "blems" are selling just fine in their store.
  16. Bluegill or Redear Hot Mustard Olive Shiner is a good one, too.
  17. If you step up to the President XT, you'd get the same rubberized plastic knob that's on the Supreme MG.
  18. Just don't understand why people put up with this crap. There's far too much competition out there to put up with Apple's BS, imho.
  19. I have a Chinese-made Triumph that rides in the back of whatever vehicle I'm driving at the time, and really have no complaints. It's definitely not flashy or high-end, but it gets the job done.
  20. Yes, the standard Supreme is $99 but the Supreme XT is $150. I just picked up this same combo a few weeks ago for $200, so for $126...jump on it.
  21. X2 A brand new Zillion is only $270 at TW, and even cheaper on Ebay. A quick Google search will also turn up dealers offering the 50th Anniversary models for ~$250.
  22. Ya see, that's the funny thing about working in a restaurant. You'll never eat at that restaurant again, but you'll eat at other ones knowing they're just as nasty as the one you worked at. It's the same in just about every profession. If you could see the poor quality of "repairs" that are done on aircraft, and the things that get hidden by paint/epoxy/sealant, you'd never fly in a plane either. Ignorance is bliss...or so they say.
  23. I've owned 8 Saharas, 3 Symetres, and 2 Sonoras and all but the Sonoras have been replaced with Pfluegers. If my boys fished more than two or three times a year, I'd replace the Sonoras as well.
