bass pro/sales tax
Yeah I hate paying taxes for nicely paved roads, education, police protection, fire protection and an army that is keeping me safe from terrorists..... Just not fair.

You can fish the FED without a club. You will still have to pay dues. If your subscribed to BASS you can fish opens but they are insanely competitive and expensive..

The hardest part about bass fishing is.........
Concentrating for every minute in a tournament....

Fluorocarbon leader????
There is 3 main reasons to fish with with a flouro leader on braid.... 1. Braid lasts longer then flouro and mono. Its made up of a couple of strands compared to one stand of mono/flouro. You are only changing a four foot leader instead of a whole spool..Saves money in the pocket. 2. Like hammer said. Braid has no stretch so adding a flour leader gives you a shock absorber. 3. Clear water, braid is a great tool its extremely sensitive so you feel everything but in clear water the line is visible. Do bass see the line? I dont know but Im not taking a chance..

Bill Lewis Pro Rat-L-Trap
Early spring and anytime after that.. Very productive! They cover a lot of water and get a lot of reaction strikes. I prefer Rapala's version and Cabela's makes one that I like.

Bass Fishing on TV???
Bill Dance, although fishing stocked farm ponds is still very informative... Hook-n-look is cool because you see it from under the water. Classic Patterns, pretty informative. Scott Martin Challenge good concept... All these show promote their sponsors religiously has to be done... My 2cents

A little help... Looking for my first bass boat.
Hey, I was hoping some of you boat owners can help me out. I am looking to buy my first used bass boat. What should I be aware of when looking at a boat. I am looking for a bass boat that is at least 19ft long with at least a 150hp engine. To fish tournys.. I'm not asking for what boat is best like Ranger or Champion or what engine to go with. Just if you could help me be aware of things to look for. For instance, what is compression? What should it be? I know this is broad but if you send some terminology and explanation I could be more aware of what to look for. I have fished as a non-boater for 3yrs and I am looking to buy my own..Thanks in advance...

How does a pro know when it's time to end a career?
People work their whole lives so they can fish when they retire... Quit when the Arthritis is unbearable...

So You Want To Go Pro
Interesting stat...But the beauty of bass fishing is you have your whole life to make it.. Bobby Lane is 35 and was rookie of the year last year. There is no 34yr old rookie of the year in football. You do not have to be 6'6 300pds and run a 4'4 forty to chuck n wind.. What you need is time and money.. Time to gain the knowledge of this passion and the money to maintain it... Your right, Its hard.. Its only going to become harder with younger anglers getting better earlier... How bad do you want it? I'm sure there are many anglers out there that could fish with the elites but do not want the hard lifestyle that comes with it... If it was easy everyone would do it... Arthur Buddhold said it best, "Follow your passion, and success will follow you."

storing soft plastics
I use a duffle bag for my main takle storage. I keep everything in there, hard lures and plastics, lines, dyes, scents, hooks etc.... I use big Zip lock bags to store my plastics. I keep the plastics in their original packages and organize them according to type of plastic. I have a big zip lock just for lizards, just for grubs, just for tubes, Senkos, etc.... On each Zip Lock I write with a permanent marker the colors of plastics in that particular bag. So if Im going fishing and want to use green pumkin Senkos, I can just take out the colors I want from the listed colors on the ZipLock. The duffle bag never leaves the house. I then fish with a back pack. This way your not lugging everything around.. When done fishing return to the duffle bag.. Don't know if this helps. Works for me..I find it very convenient.

Most Memorable Fights (with a fish)
For me it was the third bass I'd ever caught. I was 11 years old fishing a pond on Long Island. My best friend and I hadn't caught anything so we each decided to throw on spinner baits(which at that time we hadn't caught a fish on a spinner bait). By noon we had become so bored we decided it would be fun to cast out and see if we could snag each others spinner bait. It had become a game and we both forgot about the fish. On ten casts we had hooked up three times. We would just unhooked the spinner baits and do it again. On the twentieth cast I threw out and SLAM!! A largemouth bass took my spinnerbait and the fight was on. We started screaming! As I was reeling my cheap reel broke and I had to walk backwards up the bank until the fish came up on sure. We couldn't believe it. I had to buy a new reel but it was well worth it. According to his scale it weighed 5lbs. Ill never forget it.
