Anybody grow a beard for the winter season?
I started growing a full beard (minus the neck) about a month ago, it has grown in very nice so far. I'll keep it as long as the little woman doesn't shave it off while I sleep. She hates it!!!!!! Alfred

Speed/power fishing
i'm not sure of the range but they have the wireless foot control T/Ms now. i could see putting the T/M on the back and having the foot control (wireless) in the front with you. then,no matter where in the boat you are, you will always have the foot control with you. just a thought, Alfred

Who introduced you
My dad got all of his kids, including me, hooked on fishing from the time we could hold a fishing pole. most of us still love to fish to this day, there were 6 of us. growing up you worked and fished, not always in that order. i enjoyed reading all the stories you all have posted, now we all have to insure that we pass the same love for fishing and the great outdoors on to our kids and grandkids. thanks for the topic LBH, Alfred

Size of the Lake
i would have to agree with you all, i have caught some large fish in small ponds/lakes. fish size has alot to do with how healthy the lake/pond is and how much food is present for the game fish. i have caught 5 - 8lb bass out of small ponds, less than an acre in size. its about how well the pond or lake is managed. maintaining a small farm pond
as long as you have a bait fish in the pond, ie. bluegill, you will be fine. Alfred

Your Family Fishing History
my family comes from KY so they all fished, but i would guess more for food than pleasure. my dad always took us fishing, either saltwater or fresh..... we all could crab and fish by the time we could walk or shortly there after.... at 5 years old i was helping him on a shrimp boat, culling out what needed to be kept and throwing back what was too small.... even now when we get together fishing is involved some how, father's day weekend was a weekend of fishing. i have three kids and they all were fishing as soon as they could hold a ploe and all have fishing ploes.... some of the best memories i have are of fishing with my family, Jerkbate, thanks for such a great post....... Fishing Pet Peeves
i tend to think of myself as a laid back fisherman and don't let too many things get to me. with the said it does get old fast when someone talks non-stop the whole time you are on the lake. sometimes you just need to be quiet and listen to nature. Alfred

map reading
bassnut, from the map that is one nice looking lake to fish. the contour lines with the numbers tell you the depth changes, on this map they used 20' intervals for most of the map, a good map uses 5' intervals. the Legend they used here is telling you what cover or structure the lake has and where it is found, very nice feature and the old road bed. not sure if this is what you were looking for. hope it helps, Alfred

fishing = luck?
you must be one with the bass, daniel son. the key, as RW has stated, is to fish cover, bass like cover cause their food likes cover. Alfred

Bass surfacing but not taking bait
Tucson, i've had days like that, it is very frustrating. maybe a fluke or a worm worked slowly would have gotten them to open up. Alfred
