Yes any Braid or line will work. The line will stay in the water so no freeze up will occur until it hits the air. Back in the water and it will thaw. No need to use ice specific but nice.

Simp the E7 will wear you out throwing a DD22. I would go with the E5 for that even slowing down it will wear you out.

Yep, there are always folks going in at Willow Slough. They have 5-6 inches of ice which is not a probelm. Where the problem lies is getting off the beaten track and not knowing where the channel is. I'll be giving it a go this weekend.

JJ Magic, I put some on plastics at the beginning of the season. Put that plastic back in trhe bag. When I was sorting out things for the winter all the baits were scented Garlic. Now that is long lasting.

I do the same but do this over weed beds. I do vary this a bit. As the trap hits the weeds I will rip it free, then continue my retrieve. I found this a great technique for fishing weed beds.

So your saying this rod would be good for throwing shallow running bomber, bandits, DT7 DT9s, or L.C 1.5, 2.5 or 2.5dd most of the time? Would the cbr845 cast the lighter baits good? Everyone will have an opinion on a brand. For a crankbait rod you want a Moderate Action. For deep runners usually a MH power might be better and can be used for traps. Anything 16 foot or less a Medium Power will do. The key is a Moderate Action crankbaits regardless of the brand. When selecting a rod also pay attention to rating on lure weights. Everyone has their brand preferance.

You can Jig Fish, T-Rig, C-Rig, some frogging, and heavy spinnerbait if it is a fast action. A pretty good general purpose rod.

I have actually used these years ago when fishing Walleye. They made a good live bait hook as they were designed to turn in the mouth. They seemed to increase hook-ups. Of course on occasion they did brake with larger fish and when freeing snags.

I also have thought about this and one thing I find odd is everyone's surprise. I always wondered what his deal was, it seemed odd to have so many new in package items. He always was slow to respond but was very respectful and apologetic in his responses when he did. I never bought from him as I knew in my heart this was just not right, but had no idea what the deal was but it seemed like "It feel off the truck" type deal. I wish his family well as it appears this man has a tough road ahead of him.
