got my new energy pt burner today
Good to hear that you will love that reel. I bought a new handle from on the Quantum Website which fits the Energy and Tournament. Beleive it or not in comparing the cross-sectional on these two reels the only differance is the handle. The tournament adds bearing to the thumb knobs for $11.00 you will have a Tournament.

Check This American Flag Out
Amazing

what rod meets these situations?
I also use a Med Fast Avid but recently I broke a MH Fast Avid and took advantage to upgrade to the Tournament Med XF that they call a Tpwater model. Boy what a great rod. Maybe it is the IPC technology but it has a great feel. Can not go wrong with an Avid Med Fast for a all-purpose cranking and topwater rod though.

The handle should not have any play, you should take it back.

20 foot jon boat?
My partner has a 18 foot jon boat with a 25HP and also a 9.9HP. We fish this has some lakes in our area have HP limits. As far as how they handle, in rough water I feel safer in his jon boat versus my Nitro. It is great for river fishing and what we like to call jungle fishing, getting into areas you would not normally try. The ride on this boat is a bit rough and will bounce you around a bit by is very stable has on fish only on my feet and and quite active on a boat. All in all I believe this would make a good versitle boat for you.

Has anyone tried the Quantum Tour Edition PT?
I have used the Energy PT, multicoloered for about a year. My fishing partner has the Tour and we bioth love them. Well worth the money but it is a heavy reel. Also discovered by comparing cross sections the the difference in the bearing count between the two appeared to be in the handle. All other parts seemed identical by P\N Quantum sold the 4 bearing handle so I beleive I turned my Energy into the Tour. Anyway great price. I am considering another.

dead sticking
WOW talk about using your time while dead sticking. these results must have took a bit of logging. I also have caught numerous Bass picking out a back lash, even with a crankbiat floating on the top, new type of topwater bassin.

t-rigged senko
These work well. I ahev used them on Senkos and have cuaght numerous fish on one single Senko type bait. If the bait is that hot pinch off the end. A bit shorter will not hurt, I have done that numerous times.

Shimano Crucial or St. Croix Avid
Both a good rods, just do not break the Avid and understand their warranty. I found out by mistake. One of my Avids broke next week freeing a snag. Never had a rod do that. In this particular case as their warranty applies. it may cost me $ 50 to replace. I never had any of my Crucials break but have heard from other swho has broken one that the warranty is painless. Just return to place of purchase and they replaced on the spot. Still do not know how St Criox will handle my warranty, just stating how their warranty works which appears to have an escape clause. I own 5 Avids and have been loyal so hopefully this will be reciprocated. Other then that the Avids perform well and are a bit more sensitive that the Crucials.

Curado 100 and Daiwa Sol/Alphas
I owned both the Curado 100D and the Sol. I think both cast great. The Sol with the fast acting spool was a problem for me. I cast with a lot of force and overpowered the Sol, spool speed was just to fast for me. I was able to cast both with down to 3/16 -1/4 oz lures the Sol just backlasehed a bit too much for me. Hope this helps.

New Steez
Stealthy for aiming at the target. At 500 bucks I am sure it catches more fish. If I bought one that would be my story and I would stick with it. A REEL BEAUTY.

Shimano Citica ---> Size of Rod?
If your using as a crankbait rod you may choose a Med. Action Fast or Moderate. Unless you are throwing really large deep running cranks a Med is the way to go. Otherwise go with a Med Heavy Fast. I find that these work best for good hookup ratio. Also as you do not have a lot of experience go with a 6 1/2 footer. This will allow for a bit more accuracy.

knot to use for flipping rig and braided line
Palomar is the only way to go with braid in my experience.

Awesome day on Lake St. Claire
Possibly one of the best fisheries in the Midwest. I fished there last July and it did not seem to me like the dog days of summer. Caught LM, SM, walleye and my partner even caught a 48.5 inch Muskie on a Wiggle Wart.
