I agree. This time of year I think it's very important to be around the shad. Once the water temps warm to 50+, they'll break away from the shad and spread out a little more in a search for places to spawn. Until then, if there's no bait around, I dont have much confidence in a spot.

I agree with this 100% but have to add that Martens is a phenomenal fisherman and that's the most important thing. He's a threat pretty much everywhere they go. He'll get his Classic trophy before his career is over.

Hence the stigma. 44% of the traffic fatalities in SC involve alcohol. With your logic we should ban the sale of alcohol in SC? That wouldn't go over too well with residents Ummm....my logic? I was just pointing out that they get the stigma from facts and studies like Micro mentioned.

Both the Jackall Squirrel and the Squad Minnow are great baits. If I had to pick between those and a Pointer, I'd probably still pick the Pointer only because I've used them for so long. The Jackall's do produce though.

I agree. I saw the presser too. They really have time to lay it out for you. Strategy, practice (or lack of), decisions, why they did this and that, etc... What impressed me was that KVD made his decision to fish Catahouche (probably spelled that wrong) early on, even though he wasnt getting many bites in practice there and nobody else was either. He knew by looking at the weather forecasts that warmer weather was on the way and that fog would be an issue and would most likely foil any well made plans to fish Venice. He liked what he saw in Catahouche (mainly the hard bottom and huge stumps), figured in the incoming weather and water temps and smoked everybody else in the biggest tournament of the year. It was like he could see into the future because he somehow knew the fish in his bay would not only move in, but turn on. These werent your average tournament fish either. He caught studs each day and culled who knows how many bass. Dude is a machine.

There will be some fish on beds then but probably not as many as you might think, but then again, if it stays warm from here on out, the spawn will be a little early. It's almost springtime and stuff changes on Smith Mtn every day in the spring. It's all about weather and water temps from now until May.

Sounds like you need to bring your own boat, then you won't have to worry about getting front ended. You're asking for it signing up as a co-angler during the spawn....that's on any lake.

During the presser KVD said that when he switched to the square bill on Saturday and figured out how the fish wanted it, he knew right then that he'd win.

So is this the new version of the Biosonix? Looks to be along the same lines as the Biosonix.

Just finished. Good stuff in what KVD was saying. The press conferences after the weigh-ins is where you get the golden info. Just listening to the guys talk and answer the questions is priceless. Very little product pushing, just info about their spots, how the bite was, why they chose their spot, etc....awesome stuff.

Editing. It makes a better show. They can cut stuff and add stuff that will make a 100% more dramatic, better show overall.

I know you already ordered a couple pair before you posted this link don't lie.
