  1. I use a 6'6" M Fast for the regular Pointer 100's. I step it up to a 6'9" MH Fast for the 100DD's.

  5. I hear the water is low 50's but the upper end is muddy with lots of floating debris, including whole trees. I went across Occoneechee on my way to Gaston last weekend and it was orange as far as you could see in both directions. There is water in the bushes though
  6. Yeah, good job CJ. I notice several names on the results board that didnt fare too well yesterday who are normally good sticks on SML.
  7. Took 18-9 to win today.

  10. They're actually called 'striper magnets' here on Smith Mtn ;D If there's a striper in the area, he will SMASH a hornet head.

  12. I'm headed there this week, wondering what kind of water temps I'll be looking at down there.
  13. You dont have to worry about getting skunked on Kentucky Lake. There's so many bass in that place it aint even funny....and they feed right often.
  14. Find the baitfish first, then move to the first available cover or structure you can find. Fish the depth zone that the baitfish are using with a bait you can keep in that zone for the maximum amount of time. It could be different in other places but overthe years I've learned that until the water hits 50 or so, the bass generally hang around the baitfish more than anything else. Because of this, I have zero confidence in an area that has no bait this time of year (sub 50 water temps)

  19. My Merc only runs on 93 octane so yes, there are fewer trips in my future. I used to fish 3 or 4 days a week. Now it's going to be 1 or 2.
  20. Correct. It doesn't matter how you present your bait if there are no fish around to see it. You cannot catch fish that are not there. You might as well go cast in your driveway and save some gas. Find them first, then fine tune your presentation.
  21. I took KVD and Kriet as good friends, judging from last year's Classic footage. I missed the KVD/Martens exchange so I dont have an opinion on that. I'll have to look for that footage somewhere or remember to DVR the show when they air it again. ;D My guess is that they are cordial with each other, as most of them are, but KVD knows that he can get into Aaron's head whenever he wants to, so he does. The BASS video editors build up the drama as best they can to create a 'buzz' so people will have something to talk about. Like we're doing here.
