  1. Charlie was indeed humbled by the whole experience. At the Day 1 press conference he was sitting up there leading the Classic and answering questions.....boy was he nervous. He couldn't sit still and was shaking like a leaf. One heck of a guy, he was very thankful to everyone for coming out and supporting him. And one thing is for sure, he left the Classic with lots of new fans. I sure was pulling for him.
  2. Matt......Glenn and myself were dead in front of the stage, at the front end of the red Toyota, fluke was just outside when the guys had to bag up their fish..... On a side note, I will be in Steve Kennedys boat tomorrow and will have some "during the tournament" pictures up after the weigh-in. Cant wait. See you guys soon!
  3. I'd open a few and keep the rest in the pakage....just open them up as I need 'em.
  4. I talked to fluke earlier and he says that the water was mid to high 40's today
  5. .....if it was only that simple
  6. I would've thrown down a hundred too....
  7. It was....I got two sets. The local reel guy is switching them right now. I'll let you know what happens, I'm looking forward to getting them back.
  8. Only if the member that creates the thread has less than 10 total posts. Otherwise, post is moved to proper forum, then the "moved" tag is deleted.
  9. Burley-man, this is another thread that just hit the second page.....the first page or two is mainly about skippin with spinnin stuff, then the last part of it goes into skippin with baitcasting stuff. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1203093770
  10. You wouldn't believe how many great deals I've made on eBay because of second chance offers when the lead bidder backs out or the seller has two of the items their selling. You aint kiddin Blaine, I got a Helium LTA flippin rod, brand new with tags for $128 shipped because the winning bidder backed out..... Those old pre-Rapala Storm baits are getting harder and harder to find....this guy's got good colors too so there's no telling what they'll end up at.
  11. Once you locate the fish, drop the spoon into the zone and start the jiggin'.....it's really pretty simple once you get over some fish....thats the hardest part, finding the fish. I like a chrome Hopkins 3/4 oz most times.
  12. Will heads roll before or after the kick to the groin? Just curious. ;D
  13. OUCH! That had to hurt!
  14. Now on my rods I use for jigs, worms, trick sticks etc....sensitvity is a must. Thats where my Kistler and Loomis rods come in....if there's a bass breathing on my bait, I know it.
  15. Yeah, thats what I use too.....my son got tired of spending 3 or 4 hours a month holding spools for me so he bought me one for my birthday last year. Smart kid.
  16. I think that the more you fish the moving baits, especially crankbaits, the more you don't need a real sensitive rod. Once you've past a certain point, you just know whats what. I crank with fiberglass rods and have been doing so for a long time....I can feel baits just fine on my glass rods and I know exactly what my bait is doing at all times. I'm about to pick up a Dobyns crankbait rod next week to see what the fuss is all about. Other than weight, I dont feel like it will improve my crankbaitin' that much, if at all. I could be wrong....we'll see.
  17. That would be my guess too. I'm just the opposite of you, I won't texas rig a trick stick unless I'm fishing in some thick stuff or on a carolina rig. I catch way more fish wacky rigged.
  18. 5BL, do you like this bait in 5 inch or 7 inch with the spot remover? FD I buy all 7" just because I can trim off what I dont need. I generally start with the full 7" but I generally end up trimming it down between 5" and 6".
  19. Try skipping a senko wacky rigged.....it'll scoot right up under whatever you want it to. Actually, 90% of the soft plastics I do skip are 4 & 5 inch Senkso, but I Tx rig them. I only wacky rig in shallow water where the falling action is critical. As for getting the Senko way back under that dock, I mostly fish the NYC reservoirs, and there aren't any docks. All my skipping is just to get the lure under a over hang a few feet. Dock, overhanging tree, pontoon boat, its all the same....you're skipping the bait under something. A wacky rigged senko skips 100 times better than a texas rigged senko.
  20. Clear water = no rattles....so my vote is sometimes
  21. Here's the thread that muddy was referring to-----> http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1202433738/0

  23. I skip with both. On the baitcast skip, it helps to start with something that will skip easily...fluke, toad etc. Skipping jigs under docks is a big part of my game and it took a lot of practice to skip a jig consistently and effectively. I found that a bigger trailer helped the bait stay on top and a nice medium action casting rod with some 'whip' to it and thick mono will help the learning process. Once you get the overall motion down, you can switch to a heavier rod to get the eye-crossing hooksets that are sometimes needed with a jig. The jig is what made me learn to skip with a baitcast reel. I just couldnt depend on a rock solid hookset with the spinning stuff and if I did get a good hookset, it was hard to control bigger fish when they started swimming circles around the dock posts. With the casting gear, moving and fighting fish became a non-issue. It's by no means impossible and an extra tool in your belt is always good to have. I encourage you to at least make another solid effort to learn it. And always remember.......its all about the thumb.
  24. Although I use a lot of different worms on the SR's, my best producing worm has been the Berkely Power Shaky Worm.....by a long shot.
  25. I really like those Lamiglas rods.....I've been contemplating those for a while now.....might just have to get one.
