  1. I rarely have my bait past my reel (with rod straight up), as someone stated earlier. Once you raise the rod straight up (so your bait will swing back to you), you will basically be making a Nike Swoosh with your rod tip when you pitch. The rod needs to dip down (this swings the bait away from you), then just roll it out (this gives distance to the pitch). You can practice this in your driveway and once you get the basic motion down, you'll be pitching into a coffee cup at 30ft in no time.
  2. Dang it Burley, I wanted to see some pics of you holding some hawgs! Any word on what won your tournament?
  3. What a way to lose.....he'd been catching them so good. It happens like that sometimes. I'm glad McClelland won it, he's been thru a lot in his life. Heck of a nice guy too.

I could've used one of those yesterday. ;D
  5. If your boat floats away from the dock and you're lucky enough to have a Revo and a rod somewhere close, you can reel your boat back to the dock. I thought you knew that RW. ;D
  6. Good report Micro. There are lots of Revo haters around who spout off about things they've never used. Revo's rock!
  7. Yep, supposed to be ****** on Smith Mtn tomorrow as well Sam. Not looking forward to it at all but its a points tournament so its hard to skip. I wonder if Burley's going to sell all the tackle he bought specifically for that Guntersville tournament? Keep an eye on the Flea Market later! ;D
  8. I own at least a couple of each model and have since they came out. I believe if I was blindfolded and picked up and casted any of them, I probably couldn't tell one from the other....except maybe the Premier because of the weight difference. The S model is a great reel, just like the rest of 'em. And you can order the wider handles from Abu Garcia also if that's an issue with anyone. (It was for me) Just tell them you want to order the Inshore Revo handles.....they are wider.

    Yep
  10. I believe 5.4:1 gears can be bought thru ABU GARCIA customer service for those that are interested. I bought 2 sets for the S models I have.
  11. That crankbait actually had Ike's auto on the other side at one time during the Classic but he signed it with a non-permanent marker with a thick tip so it really looked like crap....and it wouldn't dry so I just wiped it all off and went and found KVD. Enjoy Burley!
  12. I'm not familiar with Crucial rods by any means but if its not a glass rod or at very least, a composite rod, I wouldn't even consider it a crankbait rod.....and I'd keep looking.
  13. Dude, you are going to love that reel....you might as well go ahead and post up all your Shimano reels for sale now so you can get some more Premiers.

I failed to recognize any "deals" in the Berkley booth. I can buy the things I looked at there at home for less money. Trilene 100% FC, spooling station, Power Worms etc....there were several booths at the Expo that didnt have many, if any, "deals". Buckeye had some decent deals which I participated in and Tackle Warehouse had Rico's 3 for $25 ....now THATS A DEAL!
  15. After seeing the Classic anglers pull fish after fish straight from their livewells and into the bags just before they weighed in, 75% of the cull tags I saw had the metal clips (stringer type) attached to the floating balls. That's the kind that I have changed back to recently also. I went to the clip-on-the-lip things last season but I can say with confidence that I'll never use them again. They are sometimes a pain in the butt to even get ON the fish, then sometimes come off very easily and will clog up your livewell drain like nothing else will. Believe me on that. As a matter of fact I'm selling that set of lip clips in the flea market section.
  16. The Elite Series fishes a long schedule and the events are pretty much nationwide making the year even longer considering the amount of miles they travel each season. The Classic participants are decided during the previous years Elite's and to put it in the middle of an ongoing season wouldn't make much sense. And putting it right after the last Elite would just extend the season even longer when the anglers are looking for a break. Plus, having it as the kick-off tournament each year helps the Federation anglers who make it to plan their seasons without having to work in the Classic in the middle of a busy schedule. And in theory...the Classic should have the most competitive fishing of the season because the anglers have all winter to get prepared for the biggest tournament of their lives, plus the field is cut in half and they're fishing for half a million bucks.

Dang it Burley, I'm out for 2 days and you've got a 7 page beeotch session going..... ;D
  18. Berkley 100% Fluorocarbon. It doesn't seem as stiff as other brands I've used. I'm looking forward to the Tackle Tour tests also.....that will shed some light on the subject.
  19. Man, I can't get my hands on those Fat Rapala's anywhere here in town and I looked high and low at the Classic Expo and didn't even see one single Rapala bait in the whole joint and we went all 3 days. What's up with that?
  20. Yeah, they're pretty slick contraptions too....we saw a video of them at the Power Pole booth at the Classic Expo and it was impressive. It showed a guy in a big Ranger with pole down in about 3 feet of water IN FAST RIPPLES and it was holding steady. If I had $1400 bucks, I'd get one.
  21. I fish Kistler's. I like the LTA's the best although I haven't tried but a couple LTX's so far. I didn't like the Magnesium's....too much tip, not enough backbone.
  22. ;D Holy Crap! Thats a whole lot of Beavers!

I've been using V&M stuff for years, they recently got bought out but I think the baits will not change much....their Finesse Worms and Needles are killers.
  24. Yep, this thread is OLD.....I've had 3 or 4 favorite cranks since then.....
